The open hatch on the back of the mining mech calls to you. It wants a biological fuel source and the only thing  you can think of is your own body.

The last time you lost a limb it grew back in a few minutes. Maybe you can use a little bit to fuel the mech and use it scare off the Rot and-

The force of the engine starting up is too much for your fail little self. Your entire body is shredded apart and sucked into the hungry valve.

You remember how it felt when your hands melted, the strange loss of sensation and the numbness where they used to be. 

The same feeling ricochets across your entire being. Where are your eyes? Where are your feet? You can’t feel anything and yet…

You have new eyes, you have new feet.

The mech is your new home… not a replacement, but a whole second body you can control, as if the parts of the machine grew out of your skin. 

Inside the twisting metal innards and rusted wiring the Mech has the faintest inklings of an intelligence remaining. The memories are yours now. Vision of working in the mine, grinding stone, fighting off waves of invading Rot, a miner taking a lunch break while sitting on your back… the memories fade as they dilute into nothingness. 

Power scorches through what is left of your consciousness. A deep burning that immolates your soul and leaves you drained.
