The last artwork I uploaded reminded me of this one of my favourite goddess, Sigyn, who is seen here emptying the bowl of venom from the snake that torments her husband, Loki, beneath the earth/Midgard, where he is chained by their son Narfi's entrails after having been devoured by his brother Vali who had been turned into a wolf by the gods and lost his senses. It makes me upset Loki's children were punished for his crime, they didn't deserve that ... 😔
I always liked Sigyn for her loyalty to her husband in spite of his serious faults and her nurturing motherly nature ... I once saw a pagan compare her as the Norse counterpart to the Catholic Virgin/Blessed Mother Mary. I was a witch at the time, and Loki was my patron god for a while. {Not because of Marvel, btw. I read Norse mythology as a child, long before I saw the movies and realised they had comics based on it.}
Even as a Christian now, and diagnosed with depressive psychosis from C-PTSD, I keep Loki and Sigyn as my friends in my imaginary world. They help me and my SO Karasu with our children. ♡
I still aspire to be a kind-hearted woman, devoted wife, and loving mother like Sigyn. ♡
