high school austen? she was wacky, spastic, a little distracted. ( okay, a lot ) she roller skated to class and through the hallways of NNHS frequently, was always a bit too loud, and was the stage/stands mom that you never asked for. the girl really should’ve been a cheerleader. instead, she was the senior yearbook editor, a terrible tennis player, and AP art freak.
aesthetic: corded phones in the year 2022, broken strings on tennis rackets, roller skates on linoleum, sour candy at the bottom of bags, crumpled paper tossed at classmates, hot cheetos for lunch, untied sneakers, vanilla and cardamom perfume, late to class because of hallways dancing, paint smudges on jeans, one airpod in an ear, loud laughter heard in the next classroom.
style: in high school, austen wore a lot of wildly printed short sleeve button downs with jeans, black pants, and shorts. the prints were usually bright in color and bold - galaxy themed, fruit, 90s patterns, etc. she also wore mostly birkenstocks or white keds. there were a lot of turtlenecks in the winter, cardigans, and various sweaters once the chicago cold settled in. wore minimal to no makeup, lots of homemade friendship bracelets, and an old beaten up, drab green backpack.
