I was listening to an episode of midnight burger and just began crying. That's not a rare sight around me, and I also was sitting near diced onions. But it was about everyone coming together to help others. All my life I just wanted to do something good, and join forces with others doing it.
The message of The Worm, everybody just work together god dammit. The Pact, The Pale, Twig, Dragonlance Chronicles and on and on and on. Find out what's good, go through changes if you have to find out your original ideas weren't good enough, or were part of the bad. Then find as many friends to that good with and pull together to survive the bad.
When I was a kid I went on my own with trash bags and gloves to clean up the park in my neighborhood. I asked my mom to take me to places I could volunteer. I have multiple people I remember calling me because it was a wrong number and I answered the phone, talked with them about their lives and they at least said they felt better after. I was like 14 then.
I'm not saying this to brag or humble brag, shit I'm just autistic, obsessive, and filled with so many expect ions. I'm a whole ass mess who read and watches a lot of heroes doing good things.
No, what's on my mind is that at one point I was sad that several members of my family didn't live nearby and I felt bad I didn't visit them more often. But my wife reminded me at the time that it was a two way road and they didn't drive down to visit me either.
And just tonight I was thinking that nobody else in my family in my own home grabbed a bag and joined me. Didn't agree to take me to volunteering opportunities. Thought it was crazy the people I was willing to listen to. Told me I was a bleeding heart liberal, weak hearted, and stupid for believing in what I tried to do.
The world is focused on popular people not willing to work together or make things better. My heart is heavy. But I'm still lucky, because my wife, my best friend, worked with me to do good things, and we'll do so again.
Like Taylor, like Paks, Like Sylvester, Like the Companions,like the crew of Midnight Burger, I just want people to work together, take care of each other, find honest, and do good things.
