Everything was a blur, colors rushing past his vision as his son was transported on a stretcher into the hospital. Heat blisters covered his delicate skin, ash turned his hair dark and he looked like he was barely breathing. Dimitri himself was in bad shape, his shoulder ached and burns spread across his skin from the fire. But he was focused on his son, just staring at him with tears in his eyes.
âDowntown went as planned,â Stiles mumbled, closing the door to Scottâs office behind him. âAnd weâve got something from the Chambal Pack requesting a very polite meeting.â
Nowadays, the omega could never quite shake the bitterness from his tone. Stiles wasnât trying very hard lately. There were dark circles under his eyes, but every night when his head hit his pillow, he was out like a light. It was a shame his busy schedule kept him late int the night and drove him up terribly early in the morning. It was unfortunately that things were already going as well as they could be. They were making good progress, and the McCalls had fallen into line and what protests they did dredge up seemed to lack any heat. Stiles had no illusions about their acceptance. For the moment, cards were falling in their favor. No one wanted to shatter a winning streak just yet.
Stiles was just far less prepared for this than he thought he was.
He dropped his papers on Scottâs desk and ran a hand through his hair before hitting the most important topic. âHowâs Felix?â
It had been far too long since heâd seen either of his kids.

Corey had been reading a book in the apartment Dmitri had set up for him. The alpha had stated that no one should be able to find it. That it should be safe. He even had a few guards which didnât help him feel at ease but it did help him know that the kids were safe. He closed the book when he heard a door open and moved quietly to the front room. âBe right there.â He called. He knew the guards were in the living area watching a game on the TV and the kids were in the extra bedroom sleeping.
âItâs all gone... all of it...â He whispered sitting outside the burning bookstore. It hadnât been a target directly but a property next to it had. He hugged his kees bring them to his chest as he trembled and watched the flames lick at the edges of the already shattered windows. Consume the last few remnants of of the books. The store had been the only place Corey could call home and actually mean it.Â

The End
It was just after four in the afternoon. The club owned by Dimitri Roman was empty except for the administrative workers who came in before the night started. Among them was the alpha himself.Â
The McCalls guards, their numbers bolstered and weapons drawn flooded into the club. They had the perimeter secured and all the exits blocked. Guards were subdued, forced down at gunpoint as Stiles carved a path through the building.Â
"Dimitri Roman." He stated coolly. "Your pack alpha's getting an official notice, in case you haven't figured it out already. This is war."
As he spoke, the other attacks occurred simultaneously across the city, hitting the Roman Pack's home, his properties in Beacon Hills.
âCan this be the year that people donât come into the ER with firework injuries, please? I can handle stomach pumping but if I have to handle anymore idiots who put firecrackers in their pants Iâm going to go home.â
âWell maybe if youâd gone to the store like you were supposed to, Jack, you wouldnât be sitting in the bathroom with no paper.â She paused, grabbing a cart as she stepped into the grocery store, a town between her own and Beacon Hills. âI told you Damian was using the last one for a project. I told you three times. You were just too drunk on who-knows-what to remember, and-- you know what?â Laura rubbed her face. âJust do me a favour and listen to him read, okay? Can you at least do that until I get back?âÂ
Not waiting for an answer, she quickly hung up the phone, distracted enough to not realise her cart had knocked into the back of someoneâs legs until she heard them let out a shout.
â... Sorry about that.â She muttered, lowering her head, trying to move past them as quickly as possible.
