The Eternal and her Beta
The Moon Goddess, The Eternal, is the giver of life. She created the living things and keeps them alive, even taking the wolves' souls after they pass into Her own Pack so that they may continue "living".
The nightshade is the flower that the Echoing Mist Pack uses as her symbol, and during the ceremony for the next Alpha to rise to power the Herbalist makes a poultice using that flower for the heir to drink - if they are worthy of being the Alpha, The Eternal keeps them alive; if they are deemed unworthy, they die so that they don't lead the Pack to ruin.
However, She does not have the abillity to see the future, so She can only bless the next Alpha based on what She has observed and on the advice of her Beta.
And who is that, you may ask?
Hel, Her son - the reaper and guardian of death, who has the abillity to see the future. He also happens to be a mischievious little shit. So, while he is supposed to tell The Eternal if the heir is a bad wolf who should not lead the Pack at any cost, he may ommit certain details or outright lie about the character of the next Alpha if he is bored enough just to watch the chaos ensue.Â
