Oh, just an adorable video from Pacifica Quartet to brighten up your Friday.
Join us for their December 9 concert featuring famous last works from Beethoven, Carter and Janáček!
The Pacifica Quartet is coming to 92Y December 9 for a recital of Beethoven, Carter and Janáček’s final string quartet compositions. The quartet, which calls Bloomington, Indiana home, has been touring together for over 20 years. In advance of their return to New York, we asked the PQ members what some of their favorite things are about the city. Bonus: Check out this scrapbook of tour memories throughout the years.
Sibbi Bernhardsson, violin Best place to run in New York: “The High Line.” Masumi Per Rostad, viola Favorite New York café: “One of my wife’s and my dearest friends has a great coffee shop in Harlem called The Chipped Cup that we love to visit. Andrew [the owner] is a former violist, so I'm comfortable announcing that they are alto-friendly.”
Simin Ganatra, violin Favorite activity in New York: “I love exploring the Metropolitan Museum of Art.”
Brandon Vamos, cello Best food in New York: “Some of my favorite places to eat are in Brooklyn. I love Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. I also like Peter Luger Steak House and Junior’s, both in Brooklyn. Katz's Delicatessen is also a favorite.”
Join us for Pacifica Quartet’s performance December 9!
There's no way around it — the Shostakovich quartets are intense, like page-turning thrillers, as they pull you into his world.
