It had haunted her throughout childhood, the vast waters- hiding deep and mysterious things. A whole other world uncharted simply lying beneath them. A quickening pulse and her mind would surge looking for a way out of the irrational fear. A fear of water. She'd gotten her Blastiose- Tidal - for this exact reason, to help her out of it and fix herself. It had even worked, she'd gone on to essentially master water types, making herself an almost unbeatable opponent.

But that still couldn't change her fate.

The day had been cloudy, dark grey blotches of ink colored clouds, covering the sky.The wind had been making a keening noise like a pack of Mightyena. The boat she'd rented for this particular expedition, had been sailing rather shakily, odd- wasn't this one of the best in the Kalosian region?

Gabby had spent the day writing in her research journal, enjoying the view from the deck. Her fellow scientists and assistants bustled about passing the time with short experiments.

It was now 1:37 am, and they were just getting close to passing the fourth- and last whirlpool.

Gabby ,now a woman, had always taken to enjoying the night. She walked around the boat casually, only a slight yawn breaking the composed silence. It was hard to walk with the slight unsteady rocking of the boat but, she had to come out atleast once to taste the salt air. She stepped up close to the boat's edge, leaning on the rim slightly with her fingers pressed against the  metal safety railing to keep her from falling over.Her eyes drifted over the sparkling sea, moonlight reflecting off the icy surface.

Without any warning the icy waves began lashing out wildly against the boat. The winds had picked up swiftly, blowing frigid air over her. Gabby struggled to hold on to the rim and eventually backed up away, moving to go into the inside deck. 

All at once the ship rocked turbulently, and she was thrown the floor.The collision momentarily dazed her; what was going on? It shook back and forth wildly, like a doll being played with by an abusive child.

Large vast amounts of water started to spill onto the ship. If someone could feel their doom coming; Gabby was sure that was the tight feeling in her chest. The captain, let out a warning telling everyone to get back into the lower levels of the ship immediately.

Gabby struggled to get to her feet, her breath jagged with anxiety from the shock of what might happen. More water grabbed onto the ship, whilst Gabby fought to stand herself up. She was near soaking by now and simply putting one foot in front of the other felt like she'd been cemented in place on the waterlogged deck. She was nearly flattened by the force of the storm lunging out at her.

Once she had finally risen to stand herself steady, the ship did one more violent lurch. Before she could tell what was happening, her body banged against the metal safety rail with a painful crack of the ribs. She grabbed onto it, trying to hold herself form but it then gave way with a screech of metal. She looked up once more in despair, her hands weak and clammy as she saw a large  tsunami like tidal wave collapsing towards her. 

One minute she was there; and the next, she was not.

Time had slowed to crawl, the slashing rain,the roaring sea, the screams and yells of her companions was all she could hear around her. She was plunging after the rail, tumbling headfirst into darkness, the seething,sucking sea reaching itself up to claim her.

The impact with the water felt like concrete; solid and cold. The icy shock blasted the remaining air out of her lungs. Her chest was burning with a passionate fire, as she  was tossed ,spinning helplessly, again and again as she tried to gasp for breath. Her body was slammed down into the 10,000 leagues, grasping for something that wasn't there. She could feel the water entering her lungs, her airways sealing shut. There was one last smoldering pang in her chest before suddenly she didn't feel anymore.

Red hot fiery shooting pain was replaced with a tranquility and calmness of comfort and safety.Oxygen deprivation had gotten to her, and she could barely feel her own heart stopping. Her vision was beginning to cloud with spots. 

But in her last few moments, she saw what she'd been waiting for.

The thing that had costed her life. And her father.

It was the flapping of wings of the water god,Lugia, that had created this sudden violent and deadly storm.The moon reflected off its glistening skin and Gabby could feel one final split second of wonder before the world abruptly shut out her senses.

Gabby looked sheepishly down at the small clock on her wrist. Each and every second it ticked and tocked down to a single moment, that every person waited for their whole lives. The moment you met your soul mate, it was known from birth you’d find them this way. Looking up, she peered around the forest, there was no one in sight. There was no way her soulmate would be in Route 14. That’d be ridiculous.

Some people ignored the clock, fell in love on their own. Found someone they wanted to be with and not predestined to be with. Wouldn’t that be nice? Shrugging her sweater sleeve to cover the clock she tried to pretend it wasn’t there; maybe meeting her soulmate wouldn’t happen if she disregarded it.

5 mere seconds until it happened. Gabby could tell when it reach those last few moments. The girl twiddled her fingers, there wasn’t anyone near her. Why would someone be in this forest, anyway? Or so she thought. Far behind her, something caught her eye. Something that wasn’t there before. Something pink.

Then she spotted him. He adorned a bright hoodie, and a cheery smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. He looked out of place in the forest. What was he doing? She walked closer to him, the boy was standing in a clearing; the only thing inbetween them was a few bushes. Small, but tall enough he wouldn’t spot her right away.

Gabby was about to call out to him and say hello until she saw him move. In one hand he was carefully stroking a buneary, running his fingers through the velvet fur. "How sweet," Gabby murmurmed until she saw him raise his other hand.

In his palm, he held a sharp cleaver. With sharp movements he slit the pokemon’s throat; the happy eyes of the buneary had no time to show the fear it felt in the last moments of living. Blood splattered everywhere; onto the boy, into the grass nothing was left with a little spot of crimson.

She couldn’t help but scream, the precious pokemon had been murdered before her very eyes. But she should’ve ran away when she had time because, he looked over to see the source of the scream.

The cheery expression on his face was suddenly aimed at her, a crescent moon spread  widely across his face. “Oh hello there, friend!~~” he spoke in a sing song voice, “I didn’t see you there! :D What a shame you had to see that!” 

Then his tone changed comepletely.
