Skiing with my wife
Yesterday I went out with my wife who btw has signed up for the half distance during the Vasa week. As she hadn't been skiing for a year and only once last year I let her set the pace except for uphill. It turned out to be a perfect training combining technique and interval. While I was skiing behind her I had the chance to ski without poles and work on the balance. When I went uphill I knew I could go 100% as I would have chance of getting the pulse down while waiting for her.
Back on track
All though I aren't on the level I hoped for at this point I am still happy that I have been active every week of January. I believe I will get to a level that is at least acceptable. To get better feedback on my workouts I bought a Polar V800 and it has until now been very useful as I now can measure my workout levels more precisely. This week I did one though exercise and two with 130-140 BPM. The most interesting thing was that today's exercise actually was faster than the one I did a couple of days ago. Today I was out with my 4Y son and I was skiing with him for a while after the first 3-4 rounds meaning kind of standing still on the skis but still my average speed was higher than two days ago when skiing with almost the same average BPM. I see that as progress!Â
Tomorrow I will aim for a slow exercise but get at least 30 km done.Â
