A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my latest career decision point. As an update, I've since decided to take the job. After thinking about it and trying to find every reason not to accept the offer, I guess I satisfied myself that there were no red flags. I also already know and like some of my future colleagues. They are good people who I trust and respect. And that is so important.

But I still want to continue my consulting work. And I will do just that, albeit as a side hustle. My reasoning is that the consulting business is part of my future, as is run coaching. I really think this new job is going to be my last hurrah as a corporate proposal manager. I'm good at what I do, but at age 55, I don't want to do it forever.

What it all comes down to is this. If I can help my new employer for a few years to reach its goals, while I continue to build my consulting business on the side, it will be a win-win for us both. And after the last employer experience, I really want to go out a winner. It's essential to me to do so.
