7. is there a series/book that got you into reading?
Not really? I taught myself to read when I was 3. I don't even remember what made me want to start reading. Some of the earliest ones I remember being really into were The Ranger's Apprentice, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, and Percy Jackson. I read all of those voraciously when I was in early elementary school. (So like, 6-10.)
12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings?
I'm going to extend this to just "compulsory readings in grade school", because I took both the AP Lit and Lang tests as a freshman and then didn't really have anything left to do English class-wise after that. My biggest faves were Hamlet and Macbeth. They were both very fun to read, and IMO much better "first Shakespeare" than Midsummer Night's Dream and R+J, which were the standard for my area. Hamlet remains one of my favorite stories. ever. Not truly compulsory because they were two options off of a larger list we got to choose from, but I read both Ender's Game and Station Eleven because of my English classes. Both books are still very dear to me to this day. (I made the mistake of re-reading Station Eleven in March 2020, which was a terrible idea. I should read it again someday soon.) I had read it several years earlier, but we had to read The Giver in 6th grade, and I had liked it the first couple of times I'd read it, and I liked it again then. I'm sure there were probably others as well, but if we're not counting college, these are the ones I remember. (It's been a good 7 years since my last true grade school English class, so my memory of the required readings are hazy, aside from a few standouts, positive and negative.)
