I apparently have this very weird quirk as a writer where I can overcome writer’s block most often when I get a massage from a massage therapist. This is not a one or two-off occurrence, either. It happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I get a massage.
As much as I’d like to say this one was purely for relaxation, I’m having issues with swelling now that I’m upwards of 6 months post-op and the weather has changed so drastically. The doctor says this is to be expected, but I might find a particular kind of massage called Manual Lymphatic Drainage helpful. I know it sounds gross and uncomfortable, but it’s actually a little pleasant. The idea is that massage is used to help stimulate the movement of fluid through the lymph nodes so that it isn’t retained, which causes swelling. Part of the surgery involved a horizontal incision right across several lymph nodes, which has messed with their ability to drain as normal while they heal and reconnect. Womp womp.
But anyway. In the hour I was on the table, I managed to plot out where I want to go with the in-progress Of Whiskey and Tequila chapter. AGAIN.
So basically. This is also me telling OWAT readers and McCake lovers to hang in there. Yes, I’m working on the chapter. No, I’m not abandoning the fic in the slightest. I just am not sure when I’ll have the chapter finished, but at least I have a direction to move now!
