Ashes | Inigo, Severa, and Owain

A few miles south of Ylisstol, laid a small town in ruins. Nothing living had roamed the streets in years. It had been one of the first casualties since the fall of Ylisse. Naturally, it was a great place to camp out for the night! Well, according to Owain at least. The trio managed to find a cellar surrounded by all the rubble. There was no logical explanation for how it stayed intact for so long but it proved sturdy enough to use as a shelter for the night. Severa and Owain had went to bed several hours ago, leaving Inigo the first shift.
The young mercenary sat by the fire above ground. The light emitting from it was just enough for Inigo to see what he was doing but it wasn’t bright enough to see from afar. He laid back, looking at the sky above. Inigo remembered a time when the stars shined as bright as his future. Now the moon was barely visible beneath the haze of clouds. He wasn’t sure how long he watched the yellow light move across the sky. Sleep had almost taken him until he caught the scent of rotting flesh.
In a panic, Inigo launched himself off the ground. He had to keep them away from the cellar. Using the fallen cinder blocks, the boy extinguished what little fire they had. When he was pleased with his efforts, Inigo grabbed his sword and rushed out towards the street. Peering around the corner of a house, sure enough, he saw a squad of Risen milling about.
“Are you serious?!” Inigo hissed. He thought about waking his friends but he was afraid to take his eyes off them. Alerting them seemed like the right idea but what good would that do if they were ambushed? “All I can do now is watch and wait...” he said to himself.
