In the Generation I games, using the Itemfinder in the Safari Zone gates will cause it to react as if there is an item nearby. This is due to a hidden nugget being placed outside of the map boundaries (Shown in above image as a red dot.) This item is unable to be obtained even through the use of cheats, as exiting the boundaries of the map causes the game to crash.

In every game since the move’s introduction, if a Pokemon has an effective speed stat over 1809, the effects of Trick Room will no longer apply to it and it will move before slower Pokemon. This oversight has not been corrected in any game.

If a Pokemon with the ability Own Tempo becomes confused through due to either having the ability passed to it via the move Skill Swap, or through having the status passed to it via Baton Pass, it will not be cured of confusion until its turn has been completed. This oversight has been present in the games since Generation V and has yet to be fixed as of the current revisions of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

In Pokemon Red and Blue, due to AI scripting errors, it is possible for Blaine to use a Super Potion on a Pokemon with full HP. This oversight is fixed in Pokemon Yellow, where the AI is set to only use a Super Potion if the HP of a given Pokemon is below 1/5th of the total.

In Pokemon Red and Blue, if the player talks to the Rocket Grunt from the left before obtaining the Lift Key, it will be dropped underneath the player’s sprite. This oversight was fixed in Pokemon Yellow, as the key is dropped automatically after his defeat.

This event has a roughly 1 in 8574 chance of occurring naturally, and is commonly used in Tool Assisted Speedruns in order to shorten the tutorial segment.
