Retro / vintage Penelope “Penny Dreadful” Smythe cosplay
Right, so this post should have happened uhhhhhh literally half a year ago, when I put this cosplay together for Halloweekend I 2020. But there wasn’t enough time to take any pictures on the day (aside from a few at the Faire itself, more on that in a moment). Then the weather was not sunny enough on any day I didn’t have something else going on, and what with one thing and another, the photoshoot did not happen until now.
As this was put together using garments I already had around, I could not make a canon-era cosplay. I am uncertain whether this qualifies as a vintage AU or a retro AU – I’m not Karolina Żebrowska, I don’t quite know where the division lies. Regardless, I am pleased with it, though I would very much like to make a canon-era cosplay someday when I have developed the necessary skills.
The above photographs were taken by my mom (who also did my hair, thank you!) and edited by me, with perhaps slightly more successful flailing than last time. The below photographs were taken by the esteemed Joseph Germano (thaaaaanks!) before Queen’s Court, and did not look to me to require any editing.

Two years in the making
This post is definitely late. I’ve barely been on Tumblr since getting engaged. First there was a wedding to plan and then the whole newlywed phase while I also adjusted to a new job (I started it the day after we flew home from the honeymoon), then life was just busy while my job had me working more than 40 hours a week and I guess I kind of lost track of time. Warren and I are celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary next Saturday which has been a little more work to plan than I thought it would be because of one factor I didn’t think we’d have yet: our precious baby girl. She just turned 4 months old and mostly I’m just sitting here wondering how she got so big and how has it already been 4 months? She smiles, she babbles (although it just sounds like happy screaming haha), she recently found that she likes eating her toes, and she sits up as long as she can hold my hands to stabilize herself. This whole being a mom thing is totally crazy but also totally awesome. I’ve recently been contemplating starting a blog and so I got back on here. I reread old posts and read through my feed a little. It’s like coming home in a way. Which is a little surreal as I hold my sleeping baby on my lap.

That’s...that’s crazy. Yeah a lot are porn bots, but almost to 400? Jeez.
Anyway, I just wanted to say this.
I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything in awhile. Things have been odd lately in my life and I feel like I’m not usually worth looking at or that anyone really likes my stuff. So my self confidence is a lil bad about somethings like that.
When I opened commissions, I barely got any. I dunno if people still want them, but they are still open if you’re interested in a meeazly cheap pregnant doodle.
Other than that I feel at times that I’m not liked enough here. I mean, almost to 400 followers is crazy but I worry that I don’t please everyone with my meh art at times.
I’ll try to update more, but please keep in mind I am still learning and adjusting to making art. So please, if you want a commission no complicated stuff. And please don’t get harsh on me for a mistake. I’m still adjusting my drawing skills. And that takes time.
