People still think Snape killed Sirius? In 2022? Sweetie...
Real talk, it's kind of sad the amount of people who think this, because it's so naive. Innocent for it to be that simple. Mean Snape made fun of Sirius so Sirius went to prove himself. No. Sirius didn't really need any excuse to get out of that house let's be real. Like I said, we literally established that this was not the case in the previous book. A factor. Yeah. But probably 10% compared to everything else. Sirius wanted out of Grimmauld Place way before Snape said anything. Sirius went through a lot of shit but he was still a grown man and he died because Kreacher betrayed the Order.
No one wanted to admit this especially not Harry because he was grieving and needed a place to project his grief. It's ironic because in the same book Harry was wishing death on Snape because of this need to project his grief somewhere else, whereas Snape himself was appalled and shocked at the prospect of Harry's death. Laying blame on Snape is lazy and a little incredulous as the book plainly states that to think so is to be completely be fuelled by grief rather than using critical thinking skills. Harry is still just a kid. It's much easier to lay blame on the mean teacher, who he for the longest time had only been viewing as just that. Mean teacher. Rather than a human being with a past, present and future. Unfortunately, because of Sirius' death, all of this development goes out of the window and he clings to it more than ever. Hence his obsession with thinking the Prince was James. Because he's just not that guy.
Ironically, the more Harry tries to cling to Sirius and James, the closer he gets to Snape. Sirius and James' deaths are tragic so Harry hangs them up on their crosses and overlooks the bad because it hurts. While the person who is actually doing the heavy lifting stands in the shadows.
And the only person who is capable of looking at the Sirius, James and Snape situation objectively is Remus the observer. And Remus flat out called James, Sirius AND Harry's attitude toward Snape straight up prejudice. Complete and utter bias. Clouding judgment, completely overlooking the facts. Which is exactly what this fandom does 24/7.
