We ventured to the Whitechapel Bell Foundry today hoping to see what @adamisfendiyar ended up creating with all the photos he took of our local community during lockdown including ourselves. While Adam did not disappoint, little did we expect to go down the 🐇 🕳 with Pietro Silvestri’s mesmerising art piece, or to take part in @doma_dovgialo photo project inviting people to draw on a self portrait as a way to convey what’s in their heads. As always David happily obliged and playfully offered his many faces to the camera. Doma chose this one which we both liked. I found that it captured what’s beyond the veneer of David’s flamboyant outside persona. Doma let us do the drawing together. We decided to draw an icon-like halo. David’s expression reminded me of the Russian icons we marvelled at when we visited the Hermitage in St Petersburg. We added cracks because of the looming signs of apocalypse, and finally I wanted to add a 💔 but David didn’t like the idea, he preferred a flower so I obliged but made her sad. The flower is me, I think, because as much as I try to keep hopeful and grateful for all I have, it remains a daily challenge to wash away the fear and anxiety of what’s to come. Thank you Doma, Pietro and everyone at the #outsidein2020 @theoldbankvault for creating such a wonderfully inspiring and meaningful collective experience! https://www.instagram.com/p/CFVIz31nKmi/?igshid=g9zrgzkf0esd
