Hey you! Did you know that if you buy my album "OutRax" right now you get not one, but TWO albums as a bonus for extra love? Pay 12$ to receive "Year Of The Yoshi" as an added bonus to OutRax! Pay 17$ to receive also "Club Needlemouse" IT'S A MAD MAD MAD SALE!
TRAX BY TRAX: A WRITTEN COMMENTED GUIDE TO "OUTRAX"
I know, I know, I could have done some commentary song by song but... you know I'm not that kind of guy. So, for your pleasure (I hope at least) I'll be writing in here some comments about all the songs from the album #OutRax, released by GameChops and yours truly exactly one week ago: we have 6 tracks to cover so let's get right into it. I highly recommend to play the entire album while you read this. TRACK 1 - "OutRun Bay" ft. James Landino ("Passing Breeze", OutRun) "What's that smell? Smells like...": Daft Punk and Nile Rodgers
We open this trip with this nice disco take on Passing Breeze. This was one of the very first tracks for the album I have ever worked on and got the blessing of mr. James Landino, that helped a lot with his mixing skills, and graced this tune with an outstanding chippy funk bass sound and an heavenly piano solo during the breakdown, while the guitars are screaming "Chic" all the way and there's an overload of funky horns to tie all up and make this one a perfect innuendo for the album and also a good nod to "Windy Groove" from "Club Needlemouse" (Yeah, remember that?). TRACK 2 - "Bathtubs on the fast lane" ("Magical Sound Shower", OutRun) "What's that smell? Smells like...": French House in general and Benjamin Briggs I will begin saying that you'll want to listen to this one only because of its title (yeah, its a kinda lame pun but, hey, at least it's original...). Magical Sound Shower meets a very French House approach with heavily phased guitars and chopped sidechained samples, this track is the only solo tune in the album, even tough mr. Benjamin Briggs had to be featured in the album and exactly on this tune but sadly had to decline because of its priorities. So in it's honor anyway I decided to compose a synth solo that (at least I hope) recalls a bit of his style. Well, I tried. TRACK 3 - "Dusk Ride Innuendo" ft. Dj CUTMAN ("Last Wave", OutRun) "What's that smell? Smells like...": '90s RnB and Michael Jackson Time to chill out a bit and insert your initials, with the very first song I have ever composed for this project. Being a collaborative album, I couldn't pass the opportunity to have the Master of GC leaving his mark on this tune, with a maniacal mixing work on drums, synths and keys, turning it into a very RnB-ish tune with some Michael Jackson flavoured shades in the breakdown, before culminating in a key change to make this tune "the ultimate make-out anthem", at least according to the chaps at RadioSEGA. (Seriously tough, try to make out with this as background music and tell me how it goes...) TRACK 4 - "TestaRossa Connection" ft. Kevin Villecco ("Splash Wave", OutRun) "What's that smell? Smells like...": Drum n Bass and Dubstep (kinda) The man behind the "Year Of The Yoshi" collaboration album (always from GameChops) makes a sudden appearence on this track, giving it a bumping drum n bass identity with heavy thumping drums and some touches in the mixing. Believe me, it hasn't been easy finding a way to properly mix Splash Wave due to its different identity from the rest of the original OutRun tracks, but in the end I settled down with something different from my usual stuff and, just like in "A Proper Introduction" from #ClubNeedlemouse, you can have a taste of my poor dubstep skills in a drop that maybe won't be extremely heavy in bass power but, hey it's a decent breakdown anyway in my opinion. TRACK 5 - "Roadside Adventurers" ft. halc ("Adventure", OutRunners) "What's that smell? Smells like...": Fusion, Swing, Jazz, Mario Kart Soundtrack gone Genesis and the Cantina Band from Star Wars (wait, what?) This track from OutRunners (also composed by the infamous "Daytonaaaaa" guy, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi) receives a very radical treatment from yours truly and the OverClocked Remix veteran halc himself: how do we describe it? It's somehow 16-bits fusion that meets with funk music and Sega Genesis solos that comes together all the way til the grand finale: trust me, you'd like to think you're inside some pixelated version of the Cotton Club dancing charleston along with it. The work the "Doctor" himself put into this track is truly outstanding, making this song a tune that must be experienced rather than listened. TRACK 6 - "RushRushRush" ft. Pixel8ter ("Rush A Difficulty", Turbo OutRun) "What's that smell? Smells like...": Giorgio Moroder, Italo Disco and Miami Vice Is time for the final stretch, with this arrangement for the tune off "Turbo OutRun" and boy it's this song "Turbo". The rare Pixel8ter contributes with all its skills and knowledge to bring the original a true "80s action movie soundtrack" treatment, with lush chord stabs and analog flavorings, coupled with arpegiated bass, synth FX all the way, Genesis sounding chimes and leads and, hear ye hear ye, distorted guitars. Practically all it needs is just the sound fo the police sirens coming and you to put on those Aviator shades to "rush" all the way to the end of this epic OutRun remix journey! Well, this was the album. Many cool people worked behind the scenes to make the songs as most enjoyable as possible for everyone, not only OutRun fans, and also suitable for all your driving needs. Seriously, get the album and put it in your car stereo, hell it can even work as custom soundtrack for Mario Kart, is that good, and I hope you will have the same fun I had composing those tunes while you listen to them. My most sincere thanks, to both listeners and collaborators. R

Some kind words, from the videogamedj.com blog, on my new album "OutRax" :3
OutRax is a remix album dedicated to Sega's OutRun! RobKTA Writes: Summer is the perfect time for road trips. Road trips need friends to be fun, so here are some OutRun remixes I made with my friends! OutRax includes all the signature tracks from the original Sega game, straight out of 1986. Plus two tracks from the sequels “Turbo Outrun” and “Outrunners,” transported to the VGM remix dimension like only a GameChops album can! What is really special about this album is that is just like a real road trip: that means I had friends with me to help me in this musical journey, and what better friends than the musical masterminds of Kevin Villecco, James Landino, halc, Pixel8ter and Dj CUTMAN to accompany me (and you) in a trip through OutRun music? Summer is here, time for road trips. Time for OutRax. Special “Grazie” to all the people that helped me while making this album and all those that keep supporting my music. My most sincere thank you. You make it happen. -RobKTA Artwork by Thor Thorvaldson Graphic Design by Chris Davidson Mastered by bLiNd More GameChops http://GameChops.com http://twitter.com/GameChops http://youtube.com/GameChops More RobKTA https://soundcloud.com/robkta https://twitter.com/RoB_KTA https://www.facebook.com/robktamusic OutRax is an album by GameChops & RoBKTA
