New flags I picked up yesterday at Outfest. Not nearly as many people went as last year and there were fewer vendors and things to do. It frustrates me knowing that people in the LGBQTIA community have to feel afraid in this day and age. I refused to let fear control me. I went, I enjoyed myself and the people I was with enjoyed themselves, but our group was supposed to be a lot larger. My younger daughter who is openly bi and who has enjoyed the fest in past years refused to go out of fear after the Pulse shooting and attacks on Pride fests in other cities. I barely managed to get my best friend to go. My older daughter volunteered like she does every year. She's an ally, and one of the best ones you could have on your side. She wore her pins with pride, including one that says "Proud Daughter". She didn't let the fear rule her either. We need to keep making progress, to make our voices heard. Hate Never Wins.
Anyone else going to watch Almost Adults by themself this Friday in LA? Maybe we could meet up? Message me if you want ^^
