at my school there are lots of asian and african girls who are still very connected to their culture. sometimes for a charity event they will give other girls henna as they know how to do it and create beautiful designs. other girls will pay and in return get henna from these south asian/african girls, so this means that white girls are getting henna. is it still disrespectful if it's for charity and if the south asian/african girls choose to share this part of their culture? or
they chose to share this part of their culture with them for this amount of time, it is okay. what’s not is okay is white people going to those beach vendors and getting henna tattoos there because those aren’t connected to a culture and are for simple body adornment. the fundraising the girls at your school do is okay because they are doing it for charity and only sharing it with you for that short period of time, it’s the same if you get invited to a wedding or celebration, it’s only for that temporary time, not a lifetime pass to apply henna whenever you choose, y'know?

oh my ok well i don’t get irl crushes but maybe if they’re in class with you, you could ask to borrow something or be like “oh, you like that thing? how cool, here’s what i know about it!” try to engage in conversation you know? become friends. literally all my friends right now are my friends bc i confronted them about one of their interests. it works, trust me. then if you’re feeling confident enough you could tell them about your crush and ask them out or smth.
