We look forward to new missions in Turkey, Sudan and a great project with local partners in Yemen to train professionals to emergency 3D documentation in the Old City of Sana'a.

Yesterday we attended the Autumn Committee of the Assembly of European Regions in Nancy, France.
We debated on "culture and the digital age" with European Commission Culture and Creativity Director Michel Magnier, Economist Françoise Benhamou and Ruediger Klein. Thank you AER for this very interesting meeting!
Iconem in Erbil: education program for UNESCO Iraq

The first week of August, our team went to the city of Erbil, most important city of Kurdistan Region in Iraq.
The mission was aimed to make an educational program on photogrammetry and 3D modelling to local archaeologist. The initiative is part of the actions of Unesco in Iraq.
These pictures have been taken during the lessons and show the class at work supported by our teaching engineer Vincent Tournadre.
Iconem work presented at "Saving the Syrian Cultural Heritage for the Next Generation: Palmyra. A Message from Nara" forum in Japan.

Few days ago, on July 13th, our common work in Syria with the DGAMS has been the focus of a speech held by Houmam Saad, post-doc Labex RESMED, University Paris Sorbonne, that represented the DGAMS (Directorate-General of Antiquities & Museums of Syria).
This event is an international workshop where many international experts on Syrian antiquity have discussed about past, present, and future of the Syrian cultural heritage. Sites such as Palmyra and Aleppo are emblematic for the delicate situation of Syrian heritage, since continously under serious threat of destruction by extremists.
One additional objective of the workshop has been to find the ways how international community may work toward the safeguard of Syrian cultural heritage.
The development of Syrian experts and concrete guide lines to incentive cooperation between communities has been a central theme too.
“Nara Message” has been the outcome of the day: decisions to be adopted in the final session.

Iconem taking part to “1 Ambassadeur 1 Entrepreneur” for the Ambassadors Week.

On the 28th of August, we had the pleasure toparticipate in the event "1 Ambassadeur 1 Entrepreneur", hosted at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Paris.
More than 650 companies have registered withn early 5,800 requests for appointments. This operation of speed dating promoted by the Ministry, is part of the 2017 Ambassador Week (28-31 August). The speed dating has been 15 min. face to face between French ambassadors around the world and a French entrepreneur. We've been able to meet several ambassadors from our countries of operation and to present our work to them, explaining our aims and future challenges...
We would like to thank the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, BPI France, Business France, CCI France International, CCI International, CCI Paris Ile-de-France and everyone who made this encounter possible. Also, we would of course like to thank again the ambassadors we had the delight to meet during this exciting afternoon.

Iconem at the 41st session of the World Heritage Committee: assessing Aleppo

The 41st session of the Committee will meet from 2 to 12 July in Krakow. The Committee, consisting of representatives from 21 of the States Parties to the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage..
.. will consider the requests for the inscription of new sites on UNESCO's World Heritage List and examine the state of conservation of sites already inscribed on the List.
In addition the meeting will talk about many other issues concerning the implementation of the World Heritage Convention.
In this occasion we will actively take part in the speech during a special event on July 3rd: ICONEM founder Y. Ubelmann will present the work done until now in partnership with the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria.
The aim will be to show how new technologies can help in the safeguarding of cultural heritage sites, in order to promote further studies and digitization of cultural heritage of Aleppo, a city that suffered some of the most violent attacks during the conflict in Syria.

Our speech at INP conference “what exhibition means” 20-21 April

“What exhibition means” 2017 has been the fifth edition of an event that has now become an annual event of Institut National du Patrimoine, under the direction of Philippe Dagen.
The meeting was aimed to present the various problems involved in the exhibition project from its conception to its opening to the public, through the example of emblematic events of the year 2016.
Several speech have taken place, represented by the various actors involved in the elaboration of these artistic or scientific events and to tackle themes as diverse as the installation of the works, the statement of state, the scenography, mediation, as well as partnerships and material and budgetary constraints.
Among them, Gael Labousse, artistic director of Iconem, has talked about our new 3D recording techniques, capable of safeguarding the memory of the most threatened sites for the next generations, making the example of the exhibition Eternal Sites. “Exbition” in this case is a mean to let people travel through virtual visits at the very heart of monuments attacked by terrorists, that have become inaccessible to the general public…

ICONEM at the National Days of Archaeology (Paris 16-18 June)

Since 2010, the French Ministry of Culture and Communication has entrusted the coordination and promotion of the National Archeology Days (JNA) to Inrap (National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research) ...
During the JNA, all actors linked to archeology mobilize to make the public discover the treasures and the backstage of this discipline. Excavators, research organizations, universities, museums and archaeological sites, laboratories, associations, archives centers and local authorities will organize innovative, original and interactive activities for the general public.
Iconem will take part to this event on 17 and 18 June to show you our works to conserve archeology in 3D: you will have the chance to visit in virtual reality several archeological sites reconstructed in 3D thanks to our HCT Vive headset !
