" oh. " that was unfortunate. just when danny had left the house for a couple of hours and had asked ben to watch the twins while he was going to see caspar.

" did you hear every part of it? " ben asks carefully, but in a slightly hushed voice. it wouldn't be any help to accidentally tell aiden every piece of information he missed. better to ask what exactly was heard, and maybe, maybe it was a simple misunderstanding and ben wouldn't have to explain this weird dating, not dating thing that danny had been going on the last couple of months. he wasn't even sure if he understood it himself completely. (even though he definitely seems happier, and maybe that was enough to understand from it.)

“ WHAT! nononono but you promised! you promised! ” luke whines with his words all high pitched, pulls a deep frown and grabs dale by his arm, pulling him out of the hallway towards the street, gesturing to the fully stocked backpack leaning against the garden fence. it’s properly hot outside, even though it is still very early in the morning. a promise for the rest of their long hot travel with the train, plane and bus trip to a big, brotherly hike and camping trip through norway.

“ we've got everything planned already, we've got plane tickets and everything! don’t quit on me now! –– are you scared of the plane? ”  a reassuring tanned hand is put on dale’s shoulder. “ DON’T BE, i looked it up and they  hardly ever crash. it'll be fine, besides you've got the days off already don't you? if we don't go what else are you goin' to do? just hang around the house? ”    he’s looking behind dale into the house now. no sight of a backpack, no sight of nothing. how are they supposed to RECONNECT, heal, when dale’s being all difficult?

  “ to be fair, you said we wouldn’t talk about that. ”    luke sits down in the bus seat next to dale, letting out an annoyed huff as he glares out of the window at their mum driving away in her car. well, she isn’t driving but the new guy is. she’s waving at them and luke folds his arms over his chest, pointedly looking away.       “ he’s a wrongin’, man! and i should be able to bring up whatever i want. if it makes him uncomfortable, well, maybe he simply isn’t suited. ”
