when affogato found out he was having cortado cookie, he was afraid. that's why, when Cortado was only a week old, he was found at the consul's door. The baby cookie, now having been adopted as clotted creme's son, found most of his younger yeats reading books from witches to sea myths. Anything cortado could find in the creme republic libraries, he read.

When the adopted son was first introduced to the public, the rumor he was clotted creme's biological son was quite the popular one. most found the child's resemblence to the consul quite uncanny. The public knowledge was that Cortado's parents had died soon after his birth, but most said otherwise. Going as far to say Cortado's mother fled after giving birth, or even died, by accident or not. But the real truth will stay with Clotted Creme, and it will haunt him forever.

Growing up, the child seemed much like his father. calculated and witty, he always said the right things at the right time. But there was something that stood out. His outward pride. Cortado always spoke highly of himself, and while as humble as he could be with such praise, always found a way to make a conversation about him. while the elders find this quite annoying, clotted cream seems to not mind it.(but he always seems to be looking at something else while his son praises himself..)
