Having spent the best part of a year saying that speculation she'd had her lips plumped were "insulting", Kylie Jenner has admitted that she has had surgical assistance.
For the longest time ever Kylie Jenner refused to admit she had her lips surgically filled. Since the legal age for medical fillers in the United States is 18 years, Kylie would require parental consent if she chose to perform this at a younger age. Apparently she was not ready to discuss this decision and eventually when it was out in the open she said "it's just something that I wanted to do." Considering Kylie's socialite background and popularity with teenagers today, the reception of this surgery resulted in the "Kylie Jenner Lip challenge" where crazed teenagers put their lips into a shot glass and sucked in to create a swollen painful looking mouth similar to Jenner's because it was the new fad to have filled lips and because Kylie had it, they wanted it.
This is an example of bandwagon behavior that an idea or decision attracts many followers because of its mass appeal. Teenagers who worship Kylie wanted to be like her and many of them had joined the bandwagon of desiring fuller lips. This mostly resulted with some people suffering bruised lips and lasting facial damage. On the other, several young girls considered dropping thousands of dollars on fillers simply to look like their idol.
In my opinion, the ability of such celebrities and media personalities to influence audiences does not always result in positive actions and receptions, sometimes causing great damage to the lives of their blind followers.
