Spotted three of these escooters along Lyon Street in downtown Ottawa in the space of 5 blocks. Have seen several riders zipping around streets, onto sidewalks, and through intersections. Are we ready for next summer when (hopefully) sidewalks and streets will be busy again? I'm all for alternate modes of transportation, but we're already struggling to deal with cars, buses, bikes, pedestrians, wheelchairs, and other forms of transportation in downtown. One more mode—especially one that goes 20kph that you don't lock up at a rack but leave on the sidewalk—is going to require planning.
