the princess/villainess! she's the main character. she remembers her life as a person on earth and she remembers the events of the otome game she finds herself living in. in the game, she died in every route after being horrible to everybody, so she's trying to become a better person. but she worries that she won't be able to escape her true nature, and being kind is hard when the world is built to make you cruel.
the conquerable heroines! both of them are *also* reincarnated and remember the game, though none of them know this about the others. the maid was enamored with the princess in life and is deeply disappointed in her inexplicable change of heart. she tries to manipulate the princess into becoming evil without drawing attention to herself. the other girl is the heroine of the original game! she's a commoner who was accepted into the magic academy on account of her rare healing magic. she is initially afraid of the princess, but if the princess is nice to her she falls in love with her. in the original game she would get some kind of aesthetic glow-up at the end of the routes, but absolutely not in the vn. she has to be cute forever.
and the three male leads from the original game, who are still in this world obviously since its an otome game. on the left is the princess's fiance, a prince from a foreign nation. he's soft-spoken but kind, and a highly accomplished swordsman. in the original game, the princess's abuse made him nervous and very reserved, but if she's not evil he ends up fine. the middle guy is the princess's older brother who dotes on her despite her cruelty. he's a happy-go-lucky type guy, but if princess is evil he does work against her in the story. in the original game, taking his route got the heroine abused by the princess for getting too close to her brother. and the last one is the second commoner accepted to the academy, who actually got in on academic merit. since he gets onto the student council, the princess abuses him in his route (since the heroine is neither stealing her fiance nor her brother). he's standoffish and bad at socialising, preferring to study magic alone.
of course the original game is meant to just be a tropey, half-decent-if-you-like-otome-games shitshow, but the vn would have more original storylines. extremely far down the list of things i want to make but crucially: it would be funny. i have no names for any of these characters as of yet.

extremely low on my list of priorities but if i ever get around to writing that yuri otome isekai story i was thinking about a while back, it might be fun to do a sort of grisaia type thing where we have all these really tropey characters and get deep into their pasts to figure out what the hell has to happen to a person to turn them into the embodiment of a trope like that. it would work here bc the girl's been isekaid into a kind of shitty game with lackluster writing and characterisation, but like now all those people are just Real. so theyve gotta have a reason for acting this way.
