Sunny reminds Fox too much of Naomi when he first sees her. Small, defenseless, and in need of a home. He feels the same sense of duty he felt all those years ago, but this time it’s not to atone or ridden with guilt.

Now Fox isn’t perfect, but he’s pretty damn efficient. He managed to keep Naomi alive, entertained, and happy. And that was under very strenuous circumstances, so to do it in a calm and stable environment is actually very refreshing!

Fox is pretty much the only one with hands on experience. Otacon reads manuals/forums, looks back on fond memories with Emma as an example. Snake meanwhile goes more on instinct, the foster system showed him what a good parent shouldn’t be.

Hal was caught off guard when Frank had first called him “doctor/doc”. It was early one morning, and he’d handed the old war dog the coffee pot.

“Thanks, doctor.” Frank murmured tiredly before lumbering out of the kitchen.
