Colors: Blue and Black and Green
Design: The base color is Blue to match their Primary color. Three thick Black stripes represent their Secondary color as well as the islands of Galahd. The thin green stripe running through one of the black stripes represents the Ostium duty of Braincelling the Ulrics, because to do so an Ostium must be Undaunted AND Vigilant. The two black stripes clustered together represent the Ostium-Ulric pair, an Undaunted partnership.
History: After cementing the Ostium-Ulric Alliance, the Ostium tartan added the green stripe to signify their status as the Ulric Braincells. The Bellum very nearly Threw Hands over the change, as the thin green stripe dividing the third black stripe gave off the illusion of five stripes. The other Great Clans just told the Bellum to Sit Down while the Ulrics stuck their tongues out at their rivals (with the Ostiums standing behind them holding them by the collar).
A/N: I had a lot of fun designing the Ostium tartan. The decision to add the green stripe in the center of a black one was inspired by a thought of the Ulrics’ recklessness rubbing off on the Ostium, and then the Ulrics refusing to let the Ostium change it after the Bellum protested out of stubbornness and a desire to spite their rivals.
