Notes
I tried to go for a bit more of a spooky/horror feel for this one
Story
Jack dove through the nether portal at the back of Ranbooâs base, his heart beating a mile a minute. He quickly looked around and hid behind the massive dark boulder on the otherwise incredibly flat bedrock floor.
He peeked out, above the rock and watched as the lanky dark form of his Enderian pursuer emerged from the purple glow. He held his breath, praying that he wouldnât be spotted.
The Enderian slowly looked around, his eyes narrowed before he turned away from where Jack was hiding. A green glow appeared between his hands, and he pulled back his hand and flung the glow out across the bedrock.
After a second, they vanished, a trail of purple particles marking out where they had gone. Jack frowned, and made a decision.
He moved as quickly as he could, and fortunately, the path the Enderian had taken was very clearly marked. It wasnât a long trip and to Jackâs utter surprise, he found a second portal. The particles lead into it, and Jack only hesitated for a moment, before he decided to enter.
He emerged into a dark stone interior. Lava glowed behind iron bars across the walls, and before him was a strange white frame that hung suspended by dark metal chains.
There was rustling down below the portal, and Jack hurriedly floated upward, plastering himself against the ceiling, just in time to watch the Enderian walk up from down below. Jack held his breath, his eyes wide, paying that he wouldnât be noticed.
Luck was on his side this time, and the Enderian walked into the nether portal without looking up. Jack waited another minute, not even daring to breath, until the squeezing feeling in his lungs finally got the better of him and he took a gasping breath.
He dropped to the ground and decided to take a look around. There was a doorway leading out of the room, but there was also the stairs down. Jack headed around and peeked into the space down below. It was darkened; candles scattered around, barely illuminating the space. He backed up and decided to head out of the room.
He wandered the dark stone halls for who knows how long, before he found his way back. Aside from candles scattered around, there was nothing interesting.
Jack slowly descended the stairs back in the nether portal room.
The room was dark and dry. The candles barely illuminated the spaces coming out from the main area. Directly in front of Jack was a large dark chest that emitted the same purple particles that followed the Enderian wherever he went.
Behind the chest was a large heavy sheet of fabric covering something. Jack glanced quickly to the left and right, but decided to go directly to the fabric.
He reached up and grasped the cloth, which felt heavy and expensive in his hand. He pulled down, praying that it would be easy to move.
The cloth tumbled down easily, revealing a massive painting of a very familiar figure.
Jack felt a shiver down his spine as he gazed up at the painted figure. It wasnât how they were posed, but the environment in which they stood.
At first glance, it was various shades of dark, but as one looked carefully, certain familiar shapes began to form.
But if you looked away for a moment then looked back, the shape had changed.
It was unsettling.
Jack was so mesmerized that he didnât hear his approach.
The light around Jack dimmed suddenly, and purple particles began swarming around the painting frame.
Jack blinked and stiffened, feeling a presence behind him. âJack-â a deep voice hissed behind him.
Large dark shapes reached into his vision, and Jackâs fight reaction kicked in and he scrambled to grab his sword and whip around to swing.
The long, lanky figure grasped Jackâs arm with his oversized paw, his jaw unhinging.
A sound like a cross between an angry whine and a furious hiss emerged from his open, glowing mouth, and Jack felt his eyes widen in fear. His sword slipped out of his hand as his vision went dark.
When he awoke, he was tucked into his warm bed. He looked around, seeing nothing out of place. His sword was resting against the back of a chair, exactly where it had been before he went to sleep. The rest of his usual gear was scattered about the space.
Jack stood, and headed to the opening to his balcony. He looked out across the darkening world. It was quiet.
The presence. It was back.
âJackâ Ranboo rested a hand on Jackâs shoulder, leaning in to whisper in his ear. âStay off the Nether Roofâ

Origins Jack and Niki have a small talk in which Niki talks a bit about her past and someone in it.
(This is my first time ever really writing a fic so uhhh please be nice I have no idea what Iâm doing.)
âYou know your not the first blaze Iâve ever met.â/Niki quitetly said her blue and pink tail floating lazily in the river behind her.
âIs that really so?â Jack exclaimed the rods around him glowing ever so slightly brighter. âI didnât know you knew anyone really besides our group at the pub(e) let alone another neather dweller like myself.â
âYeah⊠yeah I didâŠâ she said eyes glowing with sadness as if she was remembering a time now far gone. âHe was truly someone special⊠his name was Ori and from what I can assume you and him are the exact same species.â
âIs that so?â Jack said giving her an incredulous look.
âYeah⊠yeah you areâŠâ she said looking off into the distance and holding a piece of what looked to be yellow glass tied around a loosely made necklace before adding. âHim and I went through quite a lot together. I got him out of the nether and we both ended up learning quite abit about both the over world and even the nether that one time he took me.â
âYou went to the nether!?â jack exclaimed
âYes I did!â Niki laughed. âNow let me finish my story!â
âSo anyways him and I went and explored all we could finding many a things before well one day him and I got into a pretty big fight that stars knows now what was about and he got upset over it and just leftâŠâ
âWowâ jack said eyes burning a deep red. âHow could he just get mad at you over a silly little thing that you canât even remember and just leave like that! Not even a goodbye!â
âYeaahhhâŠâ niki hesitatently said. âThough now that I think about it more I never think he was mad at me⊠I think he was just mad at himself and just in the end never knew how to communicate his feelings with ether me or himselfâŠâ
They sat their in silence for a long while before she finally said.
âYou know if heâs still out their I hope heâs finally happy. I by the stars I hope that one day our cross roads will join together just at least once more so I can tell him that whatever heâs done heâs done amazing and I bet Shy would be proud of us bothâŠâ niki quitely said looking up at the stars clustered in the cool night sky.
Thousands and thousands of blocks away a lone blaze born crowned in only the light of their halo of blaze fragments clutching something hung around their neck glanced up at the sky and with a quiet chuckle whispered âhope you happy Niki⊠I truly doâŠâ before glancing back down at the chicken quietly sleeping in his lap.
OSMP -Â
Jack has webbed feet for swimming in lava! If he really tried, he could probably go as fast in lava as Niki would swimming in water, but lava is pretty thick compared to water, so it would take a lot of energy.Â
