Oscar Party Weekend - 2007 Oscars Poster
My brother has been throwing an Oscar Viewing Party for longer than I can remember (at least since the early 90s when he moved to Chicago), either at his home, or at his restaurant. Since 2005 I have been gifting him with a large Oscar poster of that year’s nominees.
Me and my little brother Tom first watched the entire Oscar broadcast back in 1973 (I was 11 and he was 9). We had just seen ‘The Poseidon Adventure’ and were excited to see one of the actresses nominated, and several special effects awards and somehow managed to win “Best Song” that year for “There’s Got to Be a Morning After”. Every year afterwards, we would watch the awards together, and even when we moved away from home, we would still call long distance to compare notes during or after the show.
I believe this was the first year my brother started holding the party at his restaurant. This was the third poster I did for him. This is the poster for 2007 (honoring films from 2006), including Little Children, The Pursuit of Happyness, Volver, Blood Diamond, Showgirls, Amin, The Queen and The Devil Wears Prada.
