She does the same thing with Chris. she never really looks like she Means it? anf then of course, she does it with nick too. but in a way that like. shes comforting herself, rather thsn him?? and then nick and alicias comforting their mother, it always feels like they do it out of familial responsibility rather than an honest desire

That"s why I like when Nick is hugging Alicia because when he does it you can see true caring and worrying.

when madison says to alicia 'i just always thought you were okay' and alicia responds 'i had to be' i think that about sums up how it was for alicia growing up. it's not that she didn't have problems, it's that she couldn't have them, at least not any she couldn't figure out by herself. she had to grow up fast because of it.

I respect Alicia, but it's a bad sign for Madison-as-a-mother here :(
I totally agree with what you guys said here. And the apocalypse made the Clarks’ weird dynamic stood out even more, specially when it comes to Madison’s relationship with her kids.
