I decided to write a little thing for my dumb pkmn oc because in the thing I’m doing with friends I’ve been doing nothing but basically shitpost commentary so lets get real serious for once-
"V, why do you only use dragon pokemon? Why not, you know, other types?"
There's a quiet pause to the question thats asked so many times in her life. She hears it constantly, especially when away from home. Some people understood how it was, to choose a type and stick with it, they never questioned it. But, there were those who fought with all kinds of Pokemon, never sticking to a single type, just as all trainers 'should'.
"Ah, well, you see...it has to do with where I'm from. I grew up in a place where most trainers end up becoming dragon tamers. It has to do with the location as well as the history." She waves her hand. That's all for another day, another story. "But that's not the only thing. I guess...I just sort of really like them! To put it simply. They're such fascinating creatures to. Beings that are so rare and intelligent. There aren't many out in the world, only a handful of them. Did you know, back in my day there were only four dragon types that were known of?" She laughs. "It's so strange to think of that now that I've encountered so much more..." A hum.
"Only so many have the power to actually train them and harness their true ability. It's a difficult challenge, I'm sure most have heard how difficult dragons are to train, right? Not many can handle it, so those that can have to be strong, reflecting their Pokemon's power. They rival to only so many in power. But, power isn't the only thing that matters. They're some of the most loyal creatures I've ever met. You earn their loyalty and they'll never leave your side. Yes, it could be said for all Pokemon, but these will go above and beyond for their partners. And they will for so long considering they live longer than we ever will."Â
"People can jump to conclusions, think that dragon tamers train them for the power and recognition. Some even think we might be in over our heads or call us silly for soley relying on one type. But, what does it matter, really? We do what we want, pick out our dragons because we want to. You pick out your partners because you wanted to, right? It's the same for use. Power, fame," she rolls her eyes, "don't need it. I just need my friends. We'll become strong together, we won't let any type advantage get in our way. Any obstacle in our path, we'll overcome it! At times it may be difficult but in the end, it's definitely worth it."
The woman grins, letting out a light chuckle. The memories of being with her Pokemon, her dragons all coming back to her. “If asked to start my journey all over again and use dragons again, I would take it without hesitation. It’d be fun to relive the adventures with them. To show others what I’m- we’re capable of doing. It’ll be so much work and I already know which parts of the journey will be a pain to go through, but...we’d manage. I know it. Though, hopefully this time around I’d have a bigger number of dragons to have around me if I’m restarting my journey.” There’s a weak laugh added to that. The thought of actually having more than just four dragons, two different lines of Pokemon, under her belt at the start, wouldn’t that be for an interesting journey?
“Oh!” A hand raises, covering her mouth as she lets out that gasp. “I’m so sorry for rambling on there! I know it’s such a simple question and can have a simple answer. I guess...” The girl shrugs, eyes looking down to the pokeball that held her first partner. “Sometimes I just get a little carried away when it comes to these guys.” The dragon tamer shakes her head, looking back to the one who had prompted the question. “I do hope, when you’re asked a question like that, your answer is filled with passion to. Reason? You don’t even need one that’s deemed good. Just whatever you believe in and wish to follow.”
