The soft, steady beeping of medical machinery was the first thing Bunny noticed as he woke up from his nap, the feeling of something soft around his wrists and ankles being the second. He tried moving his arm, the beeping on the nearby heart monitor picking up in tempo when he realized he could not lift his arm more than a few inches or so without something pulling against it, and it was still difficult to even move with how sluggish he felt. He let out a subconscious little whimper when he continued to pull against his restraints, his heart rate continuing to rise as he started to tear up, the stress of it all hurting his little head. He didn’t know why he was all tied up, or why the Doctor wouldn’t let him get up, but he just knew he wanted to be up and out of the bed. He was a big boy! He couldn’t be kept in bed like he was a little kid, and the raised rails on the bed made him feel like he was stuck in a kiddie bed, and that wasn’t right! He was a big boy now, and big boys slept in normal beds! He continued to struggle, growing more vocal as he really started pulling at his restraints.

The door opened after a few more moments of his struggling, a silhouette appearing in the doorway, lit by the fluorescent lights of the hallway. The figure wasn’t as tall as the Doctor and seemed more lithe as he started walking towards Bunny’s bed. He stopped at his bedside, resting a thin hand on the railing of the bed, peering down at Bunny with a smile. He seemed… friendly enough, and didn’t look too much older than Bunny, but the doctor’s coat he was wearing still made the boy feel uneasy.

“Oh, sweetheart, don’t be scared… It’s too early for you to wake up, silly boy, you need your sleep to be healthy,” The “doctor” said to him gently, resting a comforting hand on his chest, causing Bunny to let out a little whimper as he was pushed to lie down. “Can you go back to bed for me? Or do I have to help you?” The “doctor” asked sweetly, though something in his eyes made Bunny think he was hoping to have to restrain him. Bunny tried not to whine, stopping his struggling for the moment as he tried to reason what a big boy would do in this situation. He knew the Doctor said he would have to stay for a few days, maybe this was normal for inpatient treatment. A big boy would behave for treatment, so maybe he should listen to the man. He slowly nodded, settling back down.

“O-Okay… I can sleep.” Bunny mumbled, taking a few shaky breaths as he looked around the cold, sterile room. He knew it was childish, but he was missing his bunny plushie at home. He cuddled with it almost every night, and his arms felt empty without it, but he still tried his best to sleep. He curled up, closing his eyes tight before a gloved hand rested on his back. Despite how scared he was, the warmth was comforting, and Bunny drifted off as the “doctor” rubbed gentle circles on his back. Bunny heard a rustling behind him before something cold ran up his arm, opening his eyes and turning his head just enough to watch as the “doctor” slowly injected something into the little IV in his arm. Bunny let out a little noise of alarm before his eyes started feeling heavy, the “doctor” rubbing his back comfortingly.
