A couple of things:
Since this is a new series, it comes with new vocabulary! There are few concepts that we will be using from now on, here are the ones for the first chapter:
Kishin: demon god/demonic god
Oni: demon
Bushi: Samurai/Warrior
Bushidan: Samurai group/ Warrior group
Hi no Moto: “The sun’s origin”, in the real world is another way to say Japan.
Sengoku Period (Warring states period in the history of Japan)
If anyone would like me to explain another concept, you can ask me and I’ll try to do my best ^^
Translation by me, this time FT. my friend @maumauxmau who made me company while i did this, like the good ol’ days.

Introduction Page / Color Page 2
They will tear your world apart! A formidable new series!!
Hi no moto (“the sun’s origin” / Japan) was once, a world of humans.
But that came to an end by the sudden arrival of an unknown life-form, the “kishin” (demon gods). All the famous sengoku (warring states) warlords were killed in battle.
However, there were those who continued fighting against the overwhelming control of those “kishin”
They were called the “bushidan” (the samurai group)

(TN: We can see a young Musashi and Kojiro, apparently training. SFX: sound of swords clashing)

Musashi (10)
Page 20
(TN: The battle continues, Kojirou dominates with fast and strong moves. Musashi blocks and evates the hits.)
Page 21
Note at the side of the page: this story is fiction. Real people, organizations, events, etc. have no connection at all to it.
(TN: Musashi does a cool jump move, and overpowers Kojirou, attacking him from above. Their swords clash and they look at each other with competitive but happy smiles on their faces.)
—–
Musashi: Fuh…
Kojirou: Hahaa…
Page 22
(TN: Both kids let themselves fall to the grass and laugh together. )
——
Musashi & Kojirou: “hahaha!!
Swordsmanship is fun!!
Kojirou: Your technique is as flat as ever, Musashi!!
Kanemaki Kojirou (10)
Musashi: Shush! Your sword technique fell short, Kojirou!
—-
(TN: Musashi leads Kojirou to the house while he speaks)
—-
Musashi: Hey, Kojirou! Let’s go to take a look at your father’s picture scrolls!
Kojirou: Again!? Those are very important stuff! If we get caught, I’ll be scolded by my father!
—-
(TN: Musashi opens a scroll.)
—–
Musashi: The “Samurai” story your father told us about… it was the best one…!
Page 23
—-
(TN: The kids look at the pictures in the scroll while Musashi speaks)
—-
Musashi: The only warriors who fight against the demons are the “Samurai”
Outside town, there are the super strong monsters called “demons” …
Those evil demons are taking over Hi no moto….
But even now “Samurai” continue fighting in order to beat those demons…
In order to restore freedom to Hi no moto…
Musashi: So cool!!
Kojirou: But…
Can they win against such strong monsters as enemies?
——
(TN: Both Musashi and Kojirou: hmm….)
——
· Page 24
Musashi: Isn’t that why all these people are fighting together for? The “samurai” fight side by side with their comrades…. I’m sure!
—–
(TN: Text in Musashi’s hair: “Samurai group is written here”. Samurai group: buhsidan)
—–
Kojirou: Side by side with their comrades…?
I hope so…
Musashi: …
Musashi: All right… we’ll do it too!
Kojirou: Do what?
Musashi: In the future, you and I will become “Samurai” together! Then we’ll leave this town and, we’ll cooperate to exterminate the demons!
Kojirou: What… With you?
Musashi: You have any complaints about that?
Kojirou: None in particular…
Musashi: Then it’s settled!
—-
(TN: Musashi and Kojirou look at each other with smiles on their faces, and then raise their swords.)
—-
Musashi: We will form the strongest “Samurai group”!!
Page 25
(TN: Musashi and Kojirou smile happily…)
——-
Narration: Five years have passed by since that promise!
I am Musashi! The man who will become the strongest “Samurai”!
The promise I made with my friend that day came to my mind…
Today as well, I keep a firm grip onto my sword…
It’s needless to say that I’m giving all I have on my swordplay training!!!
—— That’s what I was supposed to do, but instead…
Page 26
TN: We can see Musashi working with a pickaxe…
—–
Musashi Narration: For some reason, I’m holding onto a pickaxe.
(TN: the text that is next to his face just says “yo-hee-ho” like the sounds of people chanting while doing heavy work.)
Musashi: Why have I, who aimed to be a “Samurai”, resigned myself to work as a “Miner”?
Musashi (15)
(TN: Musashi looks up.)
Page 27
(TN: A wild kishin appears…)
Musashi Narration: It’s because this world has gone crazy!
Musashi Narration: Humans were dominated by the “Demons”, and “Demons” are worshiped as guardian deities.
(TN: We can see people worshiping the demons.)
People: “God be praised! God be praised”
Page 28
Lady: Lord demon ( Oni-sama) … God be praised!
Man: Lord demonic god ( Kishin-sama) ….! Please protect this town today as well!!
Musashi Narration: Everyone prays to the “demons”, worships the “demons” and present offerings to them…
Musashi Narration: How could they’ve gone so damned insane? The world is truly ridiculous.
Musashi’s thoughts: “Demons” are monsters! There’s no way they are guardian angels!!
Page 29
Musashi’s Narration: On top of that, it seems the demons eat *ore. (*TN:mineral stones)
That’s why, “Miners” are extremely praised in our town. Thus, we have stone digging lessons at school.
Musashi: ….
Teacher: Become fine miners and offer ore to our lords, the demons!
Mining students: Yes sir!
…
Musashi’s thoughts: But, I won’t be deceived. I won’t trust in a town that has completely lost their common sense!
Musashi’s thoughs: I… there’s no way I’ll become a miner!!
Even if I keep a firm grip on this pickaxe, I have a strong reason to….!!
—–
(TN: Suddenly, someone calls Musashi.)
—–
Person: Hey Musashi, your digging is as good as ever!!
—-
(TN: Musashi turns to look at the person who called him. Seems like they are his classmates)
—-
Musashi: Huh?
Page 30
Boy: Hey you, i heard you dug out that legendary “rasetsutekkou*” gemstone !? you master digger!
( Rasetsu= rakshasa “ man eating iron demon”. This is a reference to Hindu mythology and Buddhism. tekkou= Iron ore. Translation would be “the iron ore of the Rakshasa” )
Boy 2: Musashi will be elected as top miner student this year, huh!
Boy 3: You are Musashi the genius miner!
—-
(TN: We can see Musashi affected for a moment.)
—-
Everyone: Genius miner! Genius miner!
—
(TN: But then, Musashi raises his head and smiles while blushing a little.)
—-
Musashi: Stop it, you guys!
Boy: This is a huge pickaxe! Musashi can handle such thing by himself! (TN: Manuscript: “It’s heavy!”)
Boy 2: Please teach us your stone mining technique too!
Musashi: Sure!
Page 31
Boys: Genius miner! Genius miner!
Musashi’s thoughts: What!?
Musashi’s thoughts: No, No! My true dream is to be a “Samurai” …
…
Teacher: “Samurai” are arch villains…
…
Musashi: !?
-----
(TN: Musashi listen to this and immediately turns around. Another class is taking place at that moment, and he peeks in to listen to what the teacher is saying.)
-----
Teacher: “Samurai” are monsters who dominated Hi no Moto until 150 years ago. They made us peasants suffer hell on earth with violence and discrimination due to their social status.
Musashi: …
Page 32
Narration: Meanwhile, the “samurai” have undergone unjustified discrimination.
They are treated as if they were brutal monsters.
(TN: Manuscript in picture. Above the samurai: “Bushidan” (Samurai group). Next to the scared people: “noumindan” which is a peasant group.)
—
Boy: Awful…
Boy2: How annoying…
Boy 3: Those “samurai” are the worst!! Right, Musashi?
—-
Musashi: ….
….
Musashi: But, I know the truth!! The “samurai” are heroes!! The “demons” are evil monsters!!
Teacher: Well then, today as well, we will chant in unison at the end of the lesson. Let’s chant everyone’s dream for the future!!
Page 33
Musashi: The time has come…!
Musashi Narration: You want to force me to say that I want to become a “miner”, don’t you? This is not a joke... Miss.
…
Teacher: Now, chant it please!! What is everyone’s dream for the future!!!?
Musashi (to himself): My dream is to be a “Samurai”
To be a “Samurai”, I said …!!
…
----
(TN: Musashi opens his mouth to chant and…)
----
Musashi and everyone: To become a “Miner” ….!!!
.
----
(TN: Musashi tries, but the words don’t come out of his mouth! SFX: paku (open and closing mouth)
----
Musashi: “Samurai”, “Samurai”
Page 34
White haired boy: Today again, I did the best I could in mining!
Musashi: …… (TN: still can’t get the words out of his mouth)
Dark Haired boy: But, Musashi is the number one miner.
White haired boy: He’s our pride!
Dark haired boy: Let’s become “miners” together!
…
---
(TN: Musashi looks down, conflicted.)
---
Musashi: Damn it…!
I couldn’t say it today either!
Why can’t I say it?
Can’t I just say it out loud for once?!!
That in truth I want to become a “Samurai” …
Page 35
Musashi: But, only Kojirou and I understand the truth…
---
(TN: Musashi starts to leave)
---
White haired boy: Where are you going, Musashi?
Musashi: To Kojirou’s house.
---
(TN: The other boys at the left of the panel look really scared haha)
---
……
After school. Kanemaki Kojirou’s house.
----
(TN: Musashi goes into the house)
----
Musashi: Kojirou, are you home?
Kojiro: ….
Musashi: Yo! Kojirou! I came today too!
Page 36
Kojirou: Go home.
Kanemaki Kojirou (15)
.
Mushashi: Why should I ? Work is over, right?
Kojirou: Yeah, It was terrible, i’m stinky as a ditch…
Musashi: Don’t say that!
Musashi: Did you have lunch yet? Do you want to go grab lunch?
Kojirou: I won’t go, because I’m saving money… The leftovers from the day before yesterday will do.
Page 37
Kojirou: Go back to the dormitory. Your graduation is next week, isn’t it? Is it okay for you to be this lazy?
Musashi: Exactly! At this rate I’ll get a job in a mine by next week!
Musashi: That’s why today I came to have a serious talk with you….
----
TN: Musashi grabs his pickaxe. Kojirou is… what?
----
Kojirou: What are you planning to do? That’s…!?
Page 38
Musashi: It’s a katana to exterminate the demons.
Musashi: Let’s leave town as we promised. You and I will form a “Samurai group” and exterminate the demons!
…
Kojirou: A katana…!? It’s a pickaxe, isn’t it?
Musashi: It’s a Katana shaped after a pickaxe!
Page 39
Musashi: Didn’t I tell you some time ago? I’ve been practicing my swordplay all along while I work as a miner!!
Musashi: For five years…. In order to leave town this very day!!
…
---
(TN: Kojirou looks conflicted)
---
Kojirou: … ….
Kojirou: I won’t do it.
Musashi: Huh…??
Kojirou: My father’s tale were words of comfort.
Musashi: …. What are you saying? Kojirou…
Page 40
Kojirou: My father and I have “Samurai” ancestors.
Kojirou: And because of that, we are discriminated in this town….
That’s why, the things my father told me until his death were at most white lies…
Kojirou: “Samurai are heroes, Demons are evil monsters” … was it?
Musashi: Kojirou…!!
Musashi: Don’t be so gullible!!
Kojirou: ….
Musashi: Your father told you, didn’t he? “Samurai” don’t give up on their dreams… Don’t give up on your dream of becoming a “Samurai”!!
Kojirou: …..
SFX: *gets irritated*
Page 41
Kojirou: After all, you… have really given up on becoming a “Samurai”, haven’t you?
Musashi: What!? I haven’t!
Musashi: You are a liar.
Kojirou: After all, …. You are shouting it everyday at school, aren’t you?
Kojirou: How does it go again?
The “Everyone’s dream for the future is---” Thing…
Musashi: Wha… What thing…?
Manuscript: No way….
There’s no way, right?
Kojirou: “My dream for the future is to become a “miner” is what you say!!!!
Page 42
Musashi: Ah…That…!!!
Musashi: I got caught by Kojirou….
Musashi: What should I do…. What should I do?
Kojirou: ….
---
(TN: Cutie… pretends to antagonize Musashi)
---
Kojiro: You say in front of me the exact opposite thing of what you bark at school!!
I can’t trust you…!!
Musashi: H-Hey…!
Oh no…. Oh shit!
I have to say something….
Anything….
Kojirou: …. ….
---
(TN: Oh, he sooo doesn’t want to do this….)
---
Koujiro: You lied to everyone around you with all your smooth-talking, so I don’t want you to tell me what my dream should be!!!
Page 43
---
(TN: Musashi is devastated by this)
---
Musashi: Right…. Do you really mean that shit…!?
Kojirou: Yeah.
Page 44
Musashi: Then you just wait and see… I’ll prove to you just how serious I am…!
---
TN: Musashi picks his katana pickaxe and leaves
---
Kojirou: I made him upset? Well, after what i told him...
Kojirou: But it’s because I want you to live a decent life….
Kojirou: It’s all right…
You go and become a miner! Brother….
Page 45
Two days later. 151# kiho academic year (TN: Kiho *demon support/ demon protect)
(TN: Musashi arrives to the inauguration ceremony with an annoyed look on his face. He’s first in line to the inauguration. )
---
People: Do your best!
Have a safe trip!
Page 46
---
TN: Musashi remembers Kojirou’s words form 2 days ago
---
Koujiro: You lied to me with all your smooth-talking, so I don’t want you to tell me what my dream should be!!!
Musashi: … To believe he really thinks that way…!!
But Kojiro, I’m serious when I say that I want to become a “samurai”
And in order to prove that I’m ready….
---
(TN: Musashi and his class reach the temple’s gate and…)
---
Man: Our lords, the demons are at the other side of this gate!
Page 47
Musashi: I’ll beat the “demons” right here!!
Just watch this, Kojirou!
Man: Your luggage will go through a purification ceremony! Please leave it at the front of the gate to begin your initiation!
Dark haired boy: Our lords the demons… I wonder, what are they like!?
White haired boy: I hope they are sort of like what the textbooks say!
Man: All right! This is the paradise where you people will work from this very day!!!
---
(TN: The gate opens…and they look inside the gate)
---
Dark haired boy: Huh? Where’s the paradise?
White haired boy: It’s kind of… off from what the textbooks say…
Page 48 and 49
TN: We see the demon eating and killing people, oh...
Page 50
TN: The demon murders the people who present offerings (most likely ore) to them.
Man: We are glad to see you, our new slaves…
Now dig out stones until you die for our lords, the demons, if you please.
Dark haired boy: What the heck… are the officers saying?
White haired boy: The demons…?
…
Dark&white haired boy: No way….. That’s a demon..!!?
Page 51
Dark haired boy: Isn’t that a monster!! We were deceived!! This is not what they told us!!
Musashi: fu... hahaha!!
White haired boy: Musashi!?
Musashi: The demons are monsters!? I knew that!!
Musashi: These guys are…. The first step to my dream!
Musashi: I, the *”Kanemaki style warrior, Musashi”…. Will exterminate the demons!!!
( *TN: This looks like a reference to Kanemaki Jisai)
Page 52
Musashi: Huh!? Where is my Katana!?
Man: Your belongings are in custody outside the gate!
After all you’ll be slaves until you die…
What do you need them for?
Musashi: This is risky….
If I don’t have my katana I can’t fight…!!
----
TN: Oblivious to this, there is Kojirou. He’s holding the sword he used to play with Musashi when they were young.
----
Kanemaki Kojirou’s house.
Page 53
Kojirou: The old days were fun, huh….
But Musashi gave up quickly on swordsmanship….
Kojirou: ….!
Kojirou: What am I saying….
I can’t let Musashi get involved with a Samurai descendant…. If he becomes a miner, he’ll have a decent life…!!!
….
Kojirou: Hm? What’s with that dirty bag?
Page 54
---
TN: workbooks! Kojirou opens them.
---
Kojirou: Did he panic so much yesterday that he forgot his school bag?
Kojirou: What is this? “Training”….?
…
Kojirou: Musashi…
Kojirou: That guy…!
---
TN: meanwhile. At the ceremony, Musashi fights the oni.
---
White haired boy: Musashi!!
Page 55
White haired boy: Stop it already!! Let’s obey the officers and our lords, the demons, or we’ll be killed!!
Musashi: You behind me, be quiet! To exterminate the demons is the duty of the “Samurai”!!
Musashi’s thoughts: This is bad… I can’t do it with this small pickaxe….!!
Page 56
Dark haired boy: Did you say “Samurai”!!? but aren’t we “miners”!?
Musashi’s thoughts: “miners”? What is he saying….?
Ah, that’s right….
I hid my true dream from everyone….
Musashi’s thoughts: Why did I hide it?
I completely lost Kojirou’s trust thanks to that…
---
(TN: Musashi attacks the Oni once again)
---
Page 57
---
TN: Dude is about to get killed…
---
Musashi: How did things end up like this!!?
Musashi’s memories- Kojirou: You lied to everyone with all your smooth-talking, so I don’t want you to tell me what my dream should be!!!
Page 58
Musashi: My intention wasn’t to lie by smooth talking at all…
I…
----
TN: Musashi’s memories: he remembers how he couldn’t utter his true dream in front of everyone.
---
Musashi’s thoughts: The truth is that I want to become a “Samurai”
Musashi’s thoughts: But If I said what I really think in front of everyone….
I’ll get too much attention. Everyone would turn a cold shoulder on me because there’s no other guy who says over there that he wants to become a “Samurai”
That’s why, it’s better this way!
It’s better this way…..
---
TN: Musashi remembers feeling miserable
---
Page 59
---
TN: he receives another hit
---
Musashi: I was trying to deceive myself!
Musashi: Saying “it’s better this way”…
All because I didn’t want to be left out by my comrades.…
Because I was scared of being cut off by those around me…
Page 60
Musashi: Was it Because I was scared of being cut off by those around me?
Musashi: Is that why I did it for?
Page 61
Musashi: How could I lose sight of the most important things!
---
TN: The officer is screaming joyful while Musahi’s friends cry in agony because things aren’t looking good for him at all..
---
Officer: come on, say it!!! Say as they taught you at school!! If you do that, we’ll save you…
Officer: What is your dream?
Page 62
Musashi: My dream!?
I’ve never been able to say it!
Can it just stay that way?
TN: But suddenly, Musashi smiles…
Musashi: Stop making excuses!
Page 63
Musashi: It’s to be a “Samurai”, you moron !!!
Officer: Then die!!!
---
TN: The oni is about to finish him, but suddenly Kojirou comes to the rescue. In a motorcycle
---
Page 64&Page65
TN: Kojiro in a motorcycle… Am I in love?
Page 66
TN: Kojiro runs over the demon with his motorcycle! Wohoo!
Officer: Is that a metal demon!? (TN: Kitetsuki)
Musashi: What is that vehicle?
Kojirou…
---
TN: But Kojirou throws him the practice notebook in his head
---
Kojirou: Hey you, what is this!?
Page 67
Kojirou: Was it true then!? When you said you were doing swordplay training all along while pretending to mine….?
Musashi: It’s true!
Musashi: Well, since I lost your trust, I guess I deserve it!
I was just an all bark and no bite bastard after all!
Page 68
Officer: To possess a metal demon is a crime worthy of death penalty! You fools will be slaughtered at once!
Kojirou: The “demons” are monsters… My father’s story was true after all!
Musashi: Yeah….
Musashi: I’m so happy!
Page 69
Musashi: Kojiro, I’ll show you just how serious I am!
Page 70
TN: Musashi shows some serious samurai moves!
Kojirou: What!!?
.
Page 71
White haired boy: What is Musashi trying to do!? Isn’t he gonna pull his weapon off the ground?
Officer: fua-fua-fua!! You Fool!!!
---
TN: Opens the practice book
---
Koujiro: No…
Koujiro: A sword sheathed in the ground….
Page 72
---
TN: Look at that Samurai battle pose!
---
Page 73
---
TN: Here comes the Oni...
---
Page 74
Musashi: “To slice a demon with a spiral motion, and finish it by sheathing the sword into the ground”
That is the way of Kanemaki’s battoujutsu! (TN: art of sword drawing)
(TN: “sensenretsuzanken” thousand spiral rending/splitting beheading swords… something among those lines) Just as Musashi said, he cuts off his oponent with a spiral move.
Page 78
---
TN: He cut the demon in half! Everyone is shocked!
---
Dark haired boy: A….
White haired boy: A…
Kojirou: A… Awesome…!!!
Page 80
Musashi: I don’t want to form “Samurai” group by myself!!
Musashi: The time to beat the demons to death, and go on an adventure until I reach the summit starts now…
Page 81
Musashi: It would be nice to share that joy with someone, wouldn’t it?
When you eat lunch by yourself, it isn’t that tasty!!
It would be boring without you by my side!!
Page 82
Musashi: Let’s do it together, you and me!!
Koujiro: … Yeah!!
Page 83
Kojirou: W-What!?
Page 84
Officer: It’s our lord “demon”, our lord “demon” has arrived! Retreat for now!
Musashi: A demon?
Dark hair boy: He’s the most distinguished demon. You never heard that at school, Musashi?
Kojirou: If he’s the god of the demons, doesn’t that mean he’s their boss?
Musashi: The boss? That’s fine with me!
Dark haired boy: Those damned demons tricked us!!
Musashi, Kojirou-kun! Please use your swords to save the town…. Hi no moto…. And the world!!!
Koujiro: You are kind of exaggerating.
Musashi: We are only doing what we have wanted to do since a long time ago, isn’t that right?
…
Kojirou’s dad: That’s the “Samurai” way of life!
Page 85
Musashi: Then, let’s do this! It’s time for the two of us to exterminate the demons!!
