Feeding off yesterdays post: Jays win over baltimore. From the Blue Jays side of this game, it looked like a murder show. Jays concur the O’s in a 9-1 fashion. But in reality the Jays exploded in the 5th sending 11 men to the dish.
The Sox lose to the suspect angels who have won 14 of their last 21 games. Mookie’s leadoff home run wasn’t a big enough spark for the new left handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz.
This moves Boston to a 2 game deficit. Followed by the Oriels whom are a half game back in the east. Making the Toronto Blue Jays the King of the east.
What the hell is happening in the AL East?
As of right now the Baltimore Oriels hold the 1st place title in the AL east as we finish up the month of July. Right behind them are the red hot blue jays from Toronto Canada. The blue jays are currently atop the wildcard race for the do or die play in game at the completion of the season. And right behind them are your Boston Red Sox, the second wildcard.

It just so happens that yesterday (7/29) was the start of a 3 game series between the top 2 teams in the AL East. Toronto topped out the Oriels in a 6-5 win gaining ground for the division title putting the jays only a 0.5 game back! With a win tonight the Canadians may top the the AL east sending Baltimore down a step. The Red Sox drew the Anaheim Angels this week whom are the worst of the west. With a 1.5 game deficit to the Oriels, the Sox may advance up the ladder by this Sunday night. The Red Sox focus should be the division title so that in a worst case scenario they capture the wildcard by the end.
The AL east has 3 playoff potential teams including one division leader and the 2 wildcard contenders. Clearly, the AL east is a powerhouse but, teams such as the Detroit Tigers (1.5 GB) and the Houston Astros (2.0 GB) also have a shot at the wildcard and coincidently have a series against each other right now*(GB = games behind).
As the blood bath between the Oriels vs Blue jays and Tigers vs Astros unfold; The Red Sox can pound on wins playing historically weak west coast opponents. Now is the time to go on a tare for the Sox! The baseball Gods set up this perfect timeline for them allowing everyone to go to war with each other while the Red Sox slide by with what seems like an easy fast lane pass to the top. With keen managerial decisions and players maintenance of health, the Sox can do it and do it soon. Make a run at the ship and not look back. The party starts now! David Ortiz’s last year. The perfect ending, going out on top in the city of champions with one more ring to his name. His leadership with the followers of young talent is a crisp recipe for success and taking the 2016 World Series Championship.
"Fanfare" I'm terrified of not living up to my full potential, above every other worldly fear. The people that are close to me bear witness. That's not a joke in any way. It's arguably unhealthy, and somehow necessary in my own mind. I am on a mission to optimize myself. growth is the mission. I think we are all on the same one but we take diffrent approaches, and hold different ideals of what the optimal self looks like, behaves like, and the impact that person has on others. My approach evolved in the last decade. We create these titans of athletics, industry, politics, art and great thinkers; elevate them, placing them out of reach of our own "realistic" aspirations. Few persue and achieve or surpass the elevated standard. We read their books, follow their moves, and celebrate them. Getting to the point, I think there are titans all around us. But we view them as equals because society, or our community has not elevated them. Maybe, in a spirit of pride, we discount the idea of what we can learn from our peers. Maybe we feel we're the chosen ones who should be elevated, not them. That's when we lose. My approach is to learn from everyone, minimize my pride so that it doesn't get in the way.... Now I realize that I hold fewer "titans" in an elevated regard, and I'm giving my fanfare to the teachers all around me. Now I view my optimal self as a process of identifying sources of power and tapping them, instead of as a destination.
