Yes, first thing is to change that outlook. Start thinking that you will enjoy that class because if you go into it dreading it, it will only make it that much harder to get through the material. The subject matter is interesting, at least more than I originally thought it would be so there’s a positive.

I would also look into asking around about which professors fared well with the students. That would help you decide which stats class to enroll in, if that’s an option for you.

Thirdly, don’t rely on just lectures and the textbook if you’re not understanding the material. Reach out to your professor, reach out to other professors, speak to your lab tech, go to tutoring, form study groups, look at online resources… do whatever you need to do to achieve an understanding of the material.
