When I arrived, I was by myself. She was the same, fiercely independent and trying to do everything on her own. Mary had a drive and zest for life I'd never seen in another drone. Collecting weird paintings, records, you name it. It all fascinated her so much. Even though it seemed the world was working against her, she had a smile that never faltered. I'm not ashamed to say I fell in love.
Unfortunately, she prefers men.
Finally talking about normal drone types. Starting with, the orchestras. Mary will be our example.
The orchestra drones were considered a designer drone before the fall of humanity. Often playing in theaters and at local events. As their name suggests they were part of one orchestra in their beginning trials. They were rarely together after being separated and sold to different buyers, but every so often you'd get the treat of hearing several play together harmoniously.
These drones were not designed to go outside. As such they aren't very resistant to most hazards. Low durability, low strength, and a battery that requires frequent recharging after shows. Drones like Mary seldom left the house of their humans. This meant that many of the orchestra drones were naive to the world they were setting out into during the collapse. Many of them didn't make it to a colony without some kind of assistance.
Within the colonies themselves the orchestra drones are highly regarded despite their shortcomings. Their musical capabilities paired with their often refined nature make them a respected drone type. Despite how highly sought-after their musical talents are, not many orchestra drones are still being built within colonies with their schematics. Most orchestras that are still around come from the collapse event.
