    she lays there, surrounded by papers and books, a collection of colorful pens strewn across the floor. an angel surrounded by stress. how foolish she was to think she could make it through nyu’s schooling? dorothy blinks back tears, a soft laugh at the woman’s words. she could always count on moa to make her feel better. clearly laying there doing nothing is going to help her write this paper so might as well put her time to good use.

    ❛ okay fine, i’ll take a break. ❜ she sits up, note cards fall as she rises, ❛ yes, i want ice cream. what a silly question to ask. cookie dough flavored, naturally. ❜

Several degrees later & she still, knowingly, makes the same mistakes; but not everyone survives quite as well on two hours of sleep a night & Dorothy, she believes, is not an exception. Neck cranes the head backward as her counterpart rises. She herself lies spread out in a nearby armchair, hands holding up a book she’s almost finished reading. But as interesting as the literature is, does she drop it onto her chest nonetheless, hands reaching out for the younger woman before she can escape -- & down, she pulls her by the wrists, locking lips just briefly before she scuttles out of her seat.
