Optometrists, Ophthalmologists and Scope of Optometry Practice
The common person may not think the difference in training and practice of ophthalmologists and optometrists.  So a medical degree distinct within each pairs of optometry information. Optometrist’s diagnose, treat, examine, and manage visual system disorders, injuries and eye diseases. They prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses as per the requirement. Optometrists basically do the following: •Perform vision tests and analyze results. •Analyze sight problems, such as shortsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma. •Prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses, and medications as per the requirement. •Provide treatments such as low-vision rehabilitation or vision therapy. •Offer pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgery. •Evaluate patient for the diseases such as diabetes and refer patients to another health care professionals as if needed. •Promote eye health care by consulting patient, explaining how to clean and wear eye contact lenses. Optometry Practice does not include medical or graduate school. Optometrists should complete 4 years of a certified optometry college after graduate education. After this they are honored the doctor of optometry degree. To enhance the experience in a particular area some optometrists also accept an optional 1-year residency program. The individual who have Optometric Information and ophthalmologists can order bound medication for eye health and perform surgeries.
