Josefina drums her fingers against the table, her brown eyes flickering to the door as she watches some boring presenter drone on and on about the monetary detriments of Blue Umbrella's existence. Ada, who's been sitting next to her, looks like she'd rather die than listen to his spiel. and, if she's being entirely honest? she doesn't blame her for thinking so. Had Josefina and Apolo been presenting, they'd be able to make things interesting, but they're only supposed to be listening tonight.

Ada has a couple shortsigns depending on who she’s speaking too. The usual one is fingerspelling A with one hand and then touching her other finger to her cheekbone, then pressing that same finger flat against the A and curling it inward (Sign for Spy)

Sleep Themed Starter Sentences / @opherative

             that  was  up  for  debate.  but  she  knew  that  tone,  and  she  knew  that  ada  was  not  going  to  be  debating  this  one  with  her,  not  tonight.  the  older  woman  seemed  to  be  pretty  over  grace's  shit  this  week  -  probably  because  grace  was  doing  a  terrible  job  at  taking  care  of  herself  these  days.  some  weeks  were  just  like  that.  and  now  she  was  behind  on  work,  and  with  that  meant  late  nights  working  from  home.  which  also  meant  falling  asleep  at  her  desk.

she  had  been  rather  comfortable,  but  alas.  she  was  probably  setting  a  bad  example  for  emily.

Mia's first thought is that the woman is here to kill her, which is why she's just tried to put a bullet through the agent's skull.

The Connections don't particularly appreciate loose ends; were it not for BSAA and Blue Umbrella, Mia knows that she and Ethan would have been dead a long time ago. That Connections agents are still hunting them and still get through anyway isn't all that surprising. She'd threatened to kill Chris when he'd told her she shouldn't have a gun, and she's reminded that that was smart, now. She just wishes it packed more of a punch.

She can't die. She promised Ethan she'd do her best not to. Promises to Ethan are about all she has left, and now —— don't think about it. Don't think about. Her stomach twists, and she can't tell if it's nausea or the baby / parasite / monster.

tongue presses up against the roof of her mouth as she tries to shake off the uneasy feeling that floods her stomach.     no, the right way isn't the only way; there's plenty of ways that they can do this, but there's a unique sort of frustration that fills her when she thinks of the alternative.      maven's been trying to find her own redemption, has been stepping over landmines and being careful to avoid them; she's finally started to feel as if some sort of redemption is in the cards for her.     it's so close that she can taste it, can feel the ash of umbrella slipping through her fingertips.      and it's been through hard work, through following leads and assets until she could strike   ————   it's not wrong if she's merely following the same protocol that any agent would simply follow.

but doing this?    it's using umbrella's own tactics against them, and if they do that…   maven swallows hard and lets out a shaky breath through her nose.     her fingers itch to pull her knife free of her boot, to toss it in the air and fiddle with it like she always has when she has been faced with anxiety.      it feels like a weakness though if she does so    ————    ada is always composed.      she would appear inadequate next to the highly trained agent if she did something so novice.      whispers of ada have crossed her path far too many times to squander a moment like this, a possible partnership.      that would have her crossing paths with leon, with circles that she could only have dreamed of.

"if we do it that way, we're no better than them."      her voice is far steadier than she actually feels.      her eyes finally come up to meet ada's, and there is nothing but uncertainty there.        if they strike back at umbrella like this, how much more damage will it cause?      how many more people will die in order to bring the cockroaches out of hiding?

"is this normal for you people?!"      her heart is still pounding wildly in her chest, refusing to stop even as she clutches at it.      she swears she can feel the thumping of it, the outline, through her jacket.        it's absurd and far too cartoonish, but damn it, ashley is getting sick and tired of being thrown around like a ragdoll and taking plummets from up high.       what part of hating heights does no one seem to understand?       first leon back in that damn church, and now ada.      frustration makes her teeth grind for a moment before she solidly puts her feet on the ground, boots digging in as she swallows thickly.       she tries to shake it off and appear much more professional than she feels. 

leon has been chiding her about this sort of thing for forever, and yet here she is, proving him right.      the last thing she needs is some sort of report getting back to him that she can't handle herself in the field.      he'll make her retract this whole career path for sure, and then what is she going to do?      ashley knows she doesn't need these people's approval, but she wants it.      it's a frustrating cycle that she attempts to talk herself out of at least three times a day, and yet here she still is, standing and huffing with her arms crossed against her chest.

she allows herself another short moment to be outraged on her own behalf, and then she clears her throat, wiping imaginary dirt away from her clothing.    eyes avoid hers as she tries to will down the flush of embarrassment that colors her cheeks.    "well then.    now that i've been properly manhandled, where do we go next?"
