I can’t believe people actually think that killing Rafael would have saved OPH. That is the stupidest shit I’ve seen from the fandom in ages.
Killing off a major character should only be done if it’s central to the plot. Like in VoS when the Sterling family was murdered throughout the story. THAT made sense, because it was literally a book with a plot that centered around mysterious murders and disappearances and the deaths actually raised the stakes and furthered the plot.
Hell, even in TC&TF when Leon was killed. Losing Leon, a valuable ally and trusted friend, to Empress Azura set in stone for Kenna that the Empress needed to be killed, and war was a necessary evil. I’d argue that it had to be Leon, as he was a lifelong ally to Kenna and was practically family to her. I mean, if someone like Sei or Whitlock was the one killed, Kenna would probably be furious, but wouldn’t immediately turn to war. Leon’s death immediately propelled the plot and got it where it needed to be.
OPH book 2’s primary stakes were saving the hospital. The plot was to work on the diagnostics team while also finding a way to finance and save Edenbrook. Killing Rafael would have in no way furthered or helped that plot. All it would have done was permanently remove a good character from the lineup, a LOVE INTEREST, at that. Raf doesn’t have the most romancers of the OPH love interests, but you can bet your ass Pixelberry would have lost a ton of support for the book had they killed him.
“Oph writers, please stop needlessly pitting us against hardworking, upstanding women of color just for the sake of a flimsy drama story arc. It’s disrespectful and—“

I want to see more characters like Zaid Mirani who are likable assholes. He’s rude but not really rude, he’s just kind of a jerk in a comical way. He still cares and he makes that clear.
That moment MC and Kyra shared together, both physically and emotionally exhausted after narrowly escaping death’s doorstep but smiling and uplifted when they saw each other was just so beautiful. I have not stopped thinking about it since Saturday’s chapter 😭😭😭
Not to start anything but can we all agree that Ethan Ramsey would 100% be the type of person who does sock-shoe-sock-shoe when he gets dressed instead of sock-sock-shoe-shoe?
