❛ That isn’t the only trick I have up my sleeve. ❜

"Is that so?" He asks as he finger gently drums on the table they currently occupied. Its not often they get a chance to sit and enjoy themselves. Usually Setzer is swept up in maintaining the ship and making sure everything run smoothly, while Celes seems to be the one that everyone comes to with their problems. Be it advice, a need for a sparring partner or someone willing to break up another brotherly argument between the Figaros. So when things had settled down for the night and all immediate tasks had been fulfilled he'd taken the opportunity to shall a bottle of wine and a few games of cards.
For the most part he enjoyed Celes' company. She always managed to keep him on his toes, and she never backed down from a challenge even when there was a clear advantage to the other. Numerous times throughout the night had she come close to losing all her chips, but she'd managed to pull herself back into the game each time. It was amusing, but also rather interesting. Had she been playing him for a fool and only pretending to be bad so that he'd take her less seriously. So that he'd make an easy mistake and let down his guard? The thought alone causes an amused smirk to show on his face. How interesting. Clearly he needed to keep a better eye on her.
Once she'd gathered the chip she'd just won he gathered the cards from the table and went about shuffling the next for the next round. Having finished with a rather flourished display he started dealing out the cards between the two of them, during which his eyes locked with her for the briefest of moments. And that's when he saw it, the tiniest of smirks and it was then that he was more sure than ever that he'd been being played the entire time thus far. Having finished the deal he places the deck off to the side before taking a sip from his glass.
"You're familiar with the phrase, 'Don't count your chickens before the hatch'? Well, I wouldn't start counting your victories before you've claimed them." One hand holds his cards in front of him while the other rearranges them to his proffered order. "The night is still young, and like you, I still have many tricks up my sleeve as well."
