#operation strix

I was so glad when I saw this scene in Spy x Family because I felt like Yor finally had someone to talk to about her insecurities (even if she can't be completely forthright about it). Then I thought it was sad that Loid didn't have this kind of dynamic with someone outside of his fake family since he struggles with feeling inadequate as a parent, too, as evidenced by this scene:

I know that Loid feels he needs to be the perfect husband and father for his mission and for world peace, but it's sad that he doesn't have many people to confide in about how hard it is to be a parent. He has Yor to help him in this scene:

Which is great (!), but I feel like Loid would also benefit greatly from having other dad friends who he can confide in about his struggles in parenting (instead of using the "dad struggle" as a way to get closer to Donovan Desmond). On one hand, Loid might feel like he is struggling to be a father because he never really planned for it and was thrown into it (not to mention that his fatherhood is part of a larger mission for world peace), but he is also not related to Anya in any way. He had very little time to "prepare" to be a father and most of his initial learning was through reading parenting books.

And while there's nothing wrong with reading parenting books, it doesn't always translate to effective parenting in real life (and parenting for Operation Strix is even further complicated by the fact that Loid chose the one child in the orphanage who is a telepath). Don't get me wrong, Loid is making considerable efforts to be a good parent and to maintain Operation Strix, but I think it would help him enormously on an emotional level if he had dad friends who can also tell him how much they struggle with raising/understanding/connecting with their children.

That way, Loid can see that even biological fathers who wanted children and who have been with their children from the beginning also struggle with fatherhood.

Operation Strix is over. Loid Forger, as far as the public is concerned, is dead.

Yor has decided to continue raising his daughter. (Hopefully the fact that she WAS married and widowed won’t have the SSS on her tail for staying single.)

One day, Yor and Anya are at the park with Bond, as they tend to do sometimes.

A stranger walks up to Yor as she watches Anya and Bond chase each other around.

He tells her he’s new in town and asks for directions to a grocery store or something. Yor points him in the right direction, and somehow, some way, they engage in small talk.

Eventually, Yor realizes it’s probably time to get Anya and Bond back home, so she calls them over.

And Anya and the stranger make eye contact.
