#operation phoenix

Operation Phoenix was an operation run by the C.I.A during the Vietnam war, that has been referred to as a ‘computerised genocide’ program. The aim of Phoenix was to conduct infiltration, ‘counter-terrorism’, interrogation and assassination in order to undermine the National Liberation Front (NLF) or Vietcong and destroy its infrastructure.

It was considered less a component of ‘war’ and more a systematic method of torture, murder and genocide conducted by the United States. The strategy made a point not to target soldiers, but instead actively targeted civilians and operated under laws that allowed for the detention of ‘suspected communists’. Some of the strategies used by the United States in their regional interrogation centres were truly horrific, they included gang rape, rape with animals such as eels or snakes, rape with large foreign objects, electric shocks through wires attached to the victims genitals or tongue, suspending prisoners in the air by their arms which were tired behind their backs, and mauling by dogs.

One of the intelligence officers working at a centre described these sadistic methods, including:

The use of the insertion of the 6-inch dowel into the canal of one of my detainee’s ears, and the tapping through the brain until dead. The starvation to death (in a cage), of a Vietnamese woman who was suspected of being part of the local political education cadre in one of the local villages…The use of electronic gear such as sealed telephones attached to…both the women’s vaginas and men’s testicles [to] shock them into submission.

Today’s prompt was Dark, which encouraged me to try my hand at our fandom’s favorite tropes DarkOne!Belle. It isn’t quite Rumbelle, although it could effectively set the stage for it and this AU came fairly easily, so there might be a part 2 either after August prompt month or if a prompt happens to work well.

The Dark One would be the first one to admit she had done horrible things. 

Even while she might not be in complete control of her actions, especially in the early days of the curse, it had been her will magnified beyond control that had caused the destruction.  Gaston's body had been mangled so badly his own father couldn't recognize it.  He had been too close, his hands attempting to take more than she would willing give, and then he suddenly wasn't.   She wouldn't lie and say she hadn't enjoyed it.    

The power had been intoxicating. Suddenly she was impossible to overlook; her opinions held more weight than they ever had before. She was no longer just a brood mare sold to the highest bidder for the aid their land needed.  She could be her own hero, even if that made her the kingdom's villain.  

Codename: Dondarrion.

Objective: Revive the severed head of Ghidorah and return him to his rightful place as King of the Monsters.

Expenses: 1.4 Billion Dollars.

Location: Nuclear Fallout Bunker 27, British Columbia, Canada.

Result: Success. Ghidorah was reborn as the Crimson Destroyer, and soon he shall be strong enough to challenge any titan.

Well time for some shameful self advertising again.

Ive mentioned this before but ive started working on a comic with @borniteblabs or Mop as you might know her. Its called Operation Phoenix. Its gotten noticed a little, but id really love for more people to read it.

I dont want to explain too much about the plot. But this is a porject Mop and I have worked on a lot and see it running for a long time. Its very different from my previous projects, because this one is very flexible in terms of plot and storytelling.

The story is primarily posted on deviantart and I'll include a link. I'll try to post updates here as well.
