Marco was born in the year 1917 to an Irish immigrant father in Mexico. His father hit it big in the stock market and he lived like a prince until the great crash of 1929. His family lost everything, his father committed suicide and his mother got sick, very sick. He did his best to care for his mother but without money for food, much less medicine, he couldn’t help her. She died when he was eighteen and fell ill as well. Desperate not to die, he turned to magic and the occult. He learned of a magical place in Rhode Island, a town called Crossroads where the impossible was possible. He was told that the blood of a unicorn would save him but at a terrible price. He didn’t care what that price would be, he was more than willing to pay it.

When he killed the unicorn and drank its blood, he became a ghoul shortly after. He stopped aging, he got faster and stronger and he began to crave the flesh of humans and reject regular food. Initially, his new urges terrified him and disgusted him but now he loves who he is. He is completely at peace with being a monster. He does web design to earn a living and walks his neighbours' dogs.

Trevor Thompson is a brilliant writer, there’s just one problem, he doesn’t have the biggest imagination. He has a hard time writing about anything he hasn’t ever experienced but wanted desperately to write a story about the supernatural. Books about supernatural creatures always sold well and got people talking, even if critics weren’t always saying good things. He had gone so long without a hit story, his last book being published when he was eighteen, that people were calling him a one hit wonder.

He received an anonymous tip that there was a town in Rhode Island called Crossroads where supernatural beings roamed. Crossroads wasn’t on the map and he didn’t really believe the tip but he went anyway, at the very least it would be a nice drive to clear his head.

He was shocked to discover almost immediately that the town was in fact, full of the supernatural. He knew that if he stayed awhile and explored his book would practically write itself. It didn’t take long, however, for him to be cornered by a predatory creature called a ghoul. He was bitten, he was sure he was going to die before a witch named Ali Stone saved him. He hid the fact he had been bitten from her, from everyone, he didn’t want to make a fuss over it or more likely, he didn’t want to face want being bitten by such a creature could mean.

The first week or so after he had been bitten was fine, he felt healthy, normal but lately, he’s been feeling sick. He’s had cravings for human flesh and he feels stronger and faster. He is horrified by what’s happening to him but he’s been keeping it all to himself, just in case people like Ali Stone start hunting him next. In the meantime, he’s been working on his book and avoiding contact with humans.
