Minevra’s magic caused problems for her parents magic, she had no control over it and would summon toys or control the families pet cat from her very first day on earth. The problem was her mother hadn’t yet told her muggle father that she was a witch, and so her early childhood was rocky, but her parent’s love prevailed in the end and they went on to have two more children after Minevra. She was a very powerful young witch as a child, and already had exceptional magical abilities before she ever went to Hogwarts. From the moment she was accepted though, her mother wronged for since adulthood she’d had to hide her magic and her daughter wouldn’t have to. Therefore their relationship deteriorated.

While at Hogwarts Minevra was massively successful, achieving Outstanding in all of her exams and was both Prefect and Head Girl in her time there. Her thirst for knowledge proved the sorting hat to be valid, as she had caused a hatstall between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, but ended up in the latter house. She grew more and more confident in her powerful magical abilities the older she got, and she grew close to her Transfiguration Professor at the time, Professor Dumbledore. He tutored her further than most of his other students because she was so talented, and in her seventh year aided her in her in becoming a Registered Animagus in her seventh year. She was also a valued member of the Quidditch team and was generally popular among the school. She excelled so much that the Ministry of Magic scouted her and she was summoned to work as an Auror almost immediately after graduating Hogwarts.

She had three months at home before she began work at the Ministry in London, and in those three months she fell in love with a beautiful young farmer’s daughter. They were near inseparable for months and she lay out plans to run away with her, believing her to be the only love of her life. It was the night before she was due to leave that her mother collared her, and warned her of breaking the Statute of Secrecy or worse, hiding herself from her one true love as she had. It has made her mother so miserable to keep a part of herself hidden from her husband that Minevra heeded her warning. Unable to give Shirley a good enough excuse, Minevra left the relationship heartbroken and unfulfilled.

After working as an Auror she was recruited by Dumbledore when he ascended to the position of Headmaster in 1956, he thought of Minevra as his first choice as his replacement as Transfiguration Professor. She poured her soul into her job because she loved Hogwarts and everything it stood for, magical unity and freedom for young witches and wizards. She was made Head of Gryffindor by 1965 and found herself really loving her job. So much so that she almost forgot about her love for Shirley. She keeps a particular eye on the Marauders, having gone through the change to an Animagus herself she always knew what the boys were doing but chose to let it slide and just kept an eye on them to make sure they completed the change safely. 

Her students often think of her as strict or scary due to her well kept appearance and threatening composure and intelligence. It’s her friends who know the more relaxed side of Minevra who laughs loud and loves fiercely. She’s a professional at work, but on her downtime she’s one of the kindest and most spirited witches in the world. Her spirit shows through in her powerful magic but you have to be very close to her in order to be shown her more approachable side.

Now that there’s a Dark Lord threatening everything that Minevra loves about magic, there is no way on earth she will allow him to succeed. Her first priority is the safety of the students in her care, but she wants to fight the cause.

Not super smart, but really not that stupid either.

Bertha is a halfblood wizard, raised by a muggle journalist and a writer for the Daily Prophet. She was always brought up to be inquisitive, constantly asking questions that people didn’t want to answer, because that was both of her parents jobs. She’d never grown up with the idea of respecting people’s privacy so the idea of it seemed foreign to her. Then again on the other hand, she handled her entire life with complete transparency, she’s possibly the most brutally honest and completely open person anyone will ever meet. She was brave and smart, just in her own way.

She was sorted into Hufflepuff when she got to Hogwarts, the same house her father had been in when he was at the school. Immediately she started getting into sports, Quidditch in particular was her favourite, and she was a talented Keeper. People were quick to call her stupid, she failed about half of her classes and she appeared to everyone as nothing but a gossip. She was more than that, though. She could keep a secret for her friends if they wanted her to, nobody would ever hear a word of it once she had sworn secrecy. Her gossip came from an amazing ability to read people and figure them out. It wasn’t gossip out of maliciousness either, just interest.

She was naive and childish, but not stupid. Not only stupid.

She has set her aspirations to bring Muggle sports to Hogwarts, she’s constantly complaining to the teachers and Dumbledore in particular. She wants to teach the students football and rugby, claiming that it’ll bring everyone together in the hard times. Most people disregard this as silly, but Bertha knows people, and if Quidditch can help form bonds as much as it does then in her opinion playing Muggle games would help stop the discrimination.

Daddy issues doesn’t even cover half of it.

Doted on by his mother and completely disregarded by his father, Barty had a complicated childhood and an even more complicated relationship with his parents. Though he was given all of the love in the world by his mother, he didn’t even see his father on weekends because his namesake was too busy attempting to gain political power in the Ministry. While his father climbed the ranks on the political ladder, Barty vied for his attention with the political elite. It wasn’t easy, and it only got harder when he was sorted into Ravenclaw, and not Slytherin like his father had hoped. 

His new friends in his house were a mixed bunch, some of them he got along with instantly, and others grated on his nerves. He wasn’t quiet about it either, he had a quick temper and the more he ticked. His ticks were little things like swearing and jerking his head and licking his lips, he couldn’t stop himself from doing it when he got emotional about anything. If his family weren’t too proud to go to a muggle doctor, they’d have diagnosed him with Tourrette’s Syndrome almost immediately.  Sadly, his family are too proud so his condition goes untreated and without labels. All he knows is that there are very few people he can be around who don’t make him stressed and so don’t make him tick. He savors his time around these people like a dragon would savor their gold.

He knows his father is struggling at work and he knows it’s got something to do with Voldemort. That connection is what initially drew him to his cause, and since Voldemort was so accommodating to him the young Barty was reeled in quickly. An easy target to Voldemort who simply wanted a powerful family name under his command. Barty is a pawn so far, some part of him knows that but doesn’t want it to be true. He wants to be important enough to be noticed.

You don’t always get to choose what you know, but once you know you always have to choose what to do with it.

Her great-grandmother was a celebrated Seer, one of the most famous of all time. Some said she’d never gotten a prediction wrong, down to the smallest detail of a word. There was three generations between her and her great-grandmother and so her childhood was very seperate from the divine arts. Her mother was a muggle and magic wasn’t used very often around the house for her comfort, so it was a shock to everyone when her visions started.

They started small. She’d get the notion that something bad would happen and her mother would get sick. Then they started to become more specific, she’d dream of a deer dead at the side of the road and the next day her father would hit one with his car. The older she got the more she could concentrate to get a clearer idea of what would happen. Her parents were thrilled that they’d given birth to the worlds next great Seer, but when she arrived at school people were less impressed with her fuzzy premonitions and vague prophecies. She hadn’t learned to tune herself fully into the Second Sight yet, but will the help of divination professors who encouraged her she soon began to learn.

Being so in touch with her Sight meant that she was different, people would tease her constantly. “Hey Trelawney, what's for lunch? Ask the Sight?” and “Go on then, when am I gonna die?” 

She never responded to the childish remarks but they always struck a chord of doubt within her. Was she really a Seer? She didn’t know, she’d doubt herself constantly and wonder if she’d just been lucky or if it was the power of suggestion like the Muggle Borns said they’d read about. She doubted herself constantly, but she did have the Sight, and always had. 

The only trouble is she couldn’t decide what she would see. She could never be sure what predictions would come when she looked into the divine realm and with the increasing danger in the wizarding world they were becoming more and more disturbing. Sometimes, she didn’t want to see at all, for fear that she’d see something too big and too inescapable.

Seventeen + Slytherin + Sixth Year + Bisexual + Male + Louis Garrel

Sometimes you know you’re making a mistake, and you make it anyway because you can’t see another option.

Severus’ muggle father was neglectful at best and violent when drunk, not an unusual occurrence in the poor town of Chokeworth. In the boys early years he lived a difficult life, his mother being not entirely sane but kind and his father being a danger to his safety. They often fought loudly and violently while he tried to sleep. He began to associate himself more with his mother’s pureblood side of the family more and more strongly and all but rejected the muggle half of him. It then was hard growing up outside of the wizarding community but he found solace when he met a young witch Lily Potter. She showed the sort of kindness that he hadn’t ever really experienced and he clung to it for dear life, making her his first and only true friend.

As he grew up his feelings for his friend grew too, developing into a deep obsessive love for the girl. Sadly he also had interests that were polar opposites to hers, as the more he learned about the dark arts the more intrigued he was by it. He was also in Slytherin house, a place where you needed a certain thickness of skin and a degree of cruelty to survive unscathed. He made friends with people Lily considered unsavory and the began to drift from Lily. She ended their friendship when Severus called her a “mudblood” in a fit of emotion, a moment he would forever regret. 

Since then he’s become closer still with his Slytherin companions, especially Avery and Mulciber. He also worked hard at charms and potions, creating his own spells and adjusting potions to be stronger and stronger. He gave himself the nickname Half Blood Prince, owing to his mothers maiden name and his blood purity.
