Hiiiiiii! -tosses heart confetti- 💖🎉 💌 Happy Valentine's Day!
So for your list I uh definitely have more things saved that I want to get to (almost bought the ebook of Valiant when it was on sale for a couple dollars and then failed lol) but I am taking advantage of our mutualness and will hit you up about them at a later date. XD 💖💖
However! (As you know) I did watch Open Range and it has easily slotted itself into my top favorite western movies (there isn't a categorized list, it's somewhere beneath Quigley Down Under lol). Thank you also for providing extra context for me about the film's overall content, you are a gem and this was very helpful for my enjoying of the movie, especially considering what was going on in the world the weekend I chose to sit down and watch it. 😅💞
The really gorgeous (definitely not Canadian XD) landscapes they captured and the score were wonderful, complimentary backdrops to the story. My family likes to quote veggie tales and say "I laughed, I cried, it moved me, Bob" and this definitely did at that.
Baby Diego Luna was precioussss although it was also funny to hear his rather deep voice (though still a little crackly lol) coming out of that tiny younger version of him. XD I love Button very much, crazy little rascal that he is. I was also entertained by Michael Gambon's Irish villain, what a despicable role that was probably (one hopes) very fun for him to play!
Oh and I called the whole "they're brother and sister, not husband and wife, hehehehe" part so fast and was giggling when Charley was trying so hard not to be heart eyes at her and then fully abandoned himself to hopeless heart eyes for the rest of the movie. 😂💞
Something else I really loved about this film was how the two main characters are shown to have such history between them and yet you realize that history itself has unfolded without them knowing in the beginning who each other are and that they are content to go on like that their whole friendship until circumstances make them face it a little (or a lot) more. 👏👏👏👏👏 A+ pacing of the storytelling there where they give you half the film before allowing the characters a bit of Traumatic Backstory exposition bc it felt So Earned. Just very nice.
Ok yeah, it was soooooo good! I love me a good western and this was a great one to add to my collection. 😊👏
HI FRIEND *gives you a slice of the raspberry chocolate cake my sister made for dinner*
Aww I'm so honored!! (VALID I support that on both counts) Hey I'm happy to wait! Delayed gratification is my favorite lol
YAY I'M SO GLAD!!! It's easily my all time favorite Western. So glad I could help with the context! Sometimes you just don't have the energy to spend an entire movie worrying about how it's going to end, and it's nice to have someone reassure you. Luckily, this one has a really good end
(LOL IS IT CANADIAN?? That's hilarious) Yesssss my family has a joke about my mom's favorite part about movies being the sweeping scenery shots (which she wholeheartedly agrees with lol) and this movie DEEPLY applies to that. It's so pretty!! And the soundtrack is incredible. That quote is PERFECT for this movie
BABY DIEGO MY BELOVED I'm never truly over the fact that he's in that movie. That's one of his first roles, and he was YOUNG, too. Such a rascal! Michael Gambon as the villain blew my mind post Harry Potter but he absolutely nails it. Wretched man (and I also definitely believe he had so much fun playing it)
THAT'S AWESOME I love that you called it!! That romance is just great. So sweet and wholesome!
Yes yes yessssssssssssss I absolutely agree! They trust each other implicitly, and it's so great. SO glad you liked it!!
