Ari really shouldn't be doing this. She rolled the joint between her fingers, watching it carefully. The last time she got high had been... a while ago. It had been the easiest to quit.

But their day had fucking sucked. Just one of those days where everything had went wrong, to the point where their brain felt like it was going to explode. Their wife wasn't even home that week to help. Ari looked at the joint again. Surely, of all her vices, it was the least harmful? And it would bring that light, relaxed feeling they found so hard to come by. But...

A new email popped up on their phone screen, and with it, two items on their automatically updating to-do list, curtesy of A.V.A.

Backstory: Is April's younger brother. He is the child of Sienna and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto)

The book store was a place she'll go often. A way to learn a bit more especially as April was so close to completing her college degree.

So naturally, in her world. She got to take Arianna and little Evan to the store. Both in their stroller as she got to have some time with the kids.

She was meeting someone here too, so as she waited for her plus one for the day. She didn't notice the young man walking over, the one she rarely sees.

It's probably why when he leans over and speaks up, even if she knows his voice was safe. It still startles her- "Now why is my older sister here all, alone?"

April whips her head back as she blinks. A small smile to her lips as she turns and gave the taller man a hug. And a squeak left her, "Al! I haven't seen you in a while- are you here to see her?"

Their mother, but she doesn't say it out loud. He usually flinched at the word, mother.

It was bright outside, the way the sun glowed and shined like the heavens had appeared below. Scatters of shadows graced the woods. The trees and plants providing a bit of shade as the person had walked through.

The moss grew up the large trunks. Littering it with hues of green. The way the butterflies flutter around, showing life was prosperous in the area.

The hum of trickling water met their ear.

Leading out from the canopies of shade to mind a secluded area. A pond, then the roar of a decent size waterfall followed.

It was a shade of clear blue. Pure even, as if no other besides the ecosystem had touched it before.

But there was something off. A woman sat in the pool of water. Her curls soaked as she swam around.

Frilly fins perked out fro those tuffs of curls. She didn't mind the person yet, a bit oblivious to their presence even.

Her eyes shimmer as she ducked back under the water. Her teal coated tail drilled behind her as she dove to hide in the waters below.

A Siren.

A legend ones would say even. And to see one this close, to see one during the day even is surprising.
