How exactly do the Flying' Dutchman's crew work? like, take Wheelback for example. The man has a compass for an eye, a wooden club for a hand, a steering wheel on their back, chains all over, what seems to be a baluster for a staircase in their shoulder, the man's a mess. What's the in-between state for that? how does one become such a thing? I think I heard somewhere that the idea for Wheelback, specifically, was that they had been mortally wounded some time in the past and these pieces of flotsam had been stuck onto them as prosthetics, which I guess checks out.
what about Broondjongen? their torso is split in half by a giant clam shell with a screaming guy in it. Greenbeard is made of wood and has a "mouth" that appears to be a slight indent stuffed with mussles, how do you become that? do the teeth slowing transition into being mussles? did they fall out and the mussles grow in their place? it's just a lot a questions. Does it feel bad to be in that state?
the Flying Dutchman's crew at probably the best designs for any group of characters, maybe ever. They aren't so much hybrids as if someone overlaid the animal or flotsam over a human, they're no cohesion or order to it, it's the best.
