I _hate_ how much of the fanart I see of kayne either leans heavily into "goblin" kind of features, which tie heavily back to antisemitism, or other kinds of tired old "visually-coded-as-conniving-and-untrustworthy" tropes that also have majorly racist and xenophobic roots. like, c'mon people. this is not an undercurrent of lovecraft's work that we should be perpetuating.

It makes me kind of sad when I stumble upon a fanfic that is listed as being completed but once I've read it to the end I find out that it's been discontinued. And especially when it's such a neat little idea too, but I never get to see where it goes, and since I'm already chapters in I've become invested. It wouldn't be so bad if it was mentioned in the summary or author's note in the beginning, then at least I'd know what I'm getting into beforehand… :(
But it's also really weird because all four times (seriously. Four!! Why??) this has happened to me, it has been a crossover fic. I'm pretty sure three of them were Bayverse and IDW, I don't remember what the last one was… But I wasn't looking for crossovers, I was just looking for two specific characters. Weird coincidence?

so ep 4 ofts really truly took off. the acting and the chemistry alone. but also, like, the sheer chaos of this network. the fucking mess of it alllll.
i actually love mew? he's such an excellent character. you can see him noticing these little things about top, and knowing something is amiss but still going with it because feelings.
and ray and sand's relationship feels similar. like despite sand's better judgement he's falling for ray, and it's so hard to pull away because when it's good it's so good.
and nick good god, this poor fucked up boy. he's truly in his manipulate, mansplain, malewife era. i just appreciate that every other character in this show is warning him against boston. not that it's going to do anything, but at least they tried lol.
this show feels...despite the connected melodrama of it all, it feels almost too realistic to messy queer friend groups. a story about the people we fall in love with despite knowing better.
